  1. I bought a very similar looking (but smaller) unit from Argos. It was advertised as a CD storage unit - as soon as I filled a shelf with CDs (as pictured in the catalogue) it warped. Not after a day or an hour, literally as soon as I put them in the unit. The shelves weren't strong enough to hold CDs. Quite shite.

  2. I have 3 copies of "Extreme Music Music From Japan" - released by Susan Lawly Records (Whitehouse). Excellent comp, runs like a who's who of Japanese noise featuring Merzbow, Massona, Hijo Kaidan, The Gerogerigegege and more. All tracks were recorded exclusively for this comp! The record label usually charge around 15 for this one, though it is currently unavailable. All 3 copies are brand new, still in shrink wrap. 7.99 each.

    Link here!

  3. I second the Deathspell Omega recommendation. Possibly better than Kenose. You should download "Mass Grave Aesthetics" if you can, off a comp on Northern Heritage - my personal favourite and fucking ace.

There's always been an interesting lunatic fringe (not referring to DSO here) somewhere in heavy metal. It's a durable, flexible old beast. If you look hard enough you will find.

    But aye, Machinehead are/were gash.

  4. Various: Noise, Jap HC, Metal...

Just quit my job, so better start selling things quick! Here are links to my auctions:

Extreme Music From Japan - Compiled by Mr Bennet & Co of Whitehouse, includes Massona, Merzbow, The Gerogerigegege & many others.

Deathside T-shirt - Haven't see many of these going about (apart from the one I have on my back). JapHC legends. This is unworn btw.

Godzik Pink "Black Broccoli" CD - bizzare instrumental, slightly jazzy

Deftones "Adrenaline" CD - you know what this is, so I'll shut up

  5. The last date of Lobotomized's short scottish tour hits the Moorings on Sept 29th

    Lobotomized - www.myspace.com/lobotomized

Trash metal from the gutters of Oslo, somewhere between Autopsy and GG Allin. A foul and potent cocktail of death metal and punk.

    Bonesaw - www.myspace.com/bonesawuk

Oozing, viscous death metal from the 'Deen.

    Splatterhead - www.myspace.com/splatterheadspace

    Thrash-rapcore from Dundee.

  6. I'm looking for a cheap second hand bike that is in working order. Preferably of a 'racer' type, but anything will be considered. I need something cheap, nothing flash at all. If gears and brakes are in reasonable order and the price is right, PM me!

  7. Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.

The bare knuckles sound like they would do the trick (particularly the warpig), though they're a bit out of my price range. Off to Ebay to see what the going rate is second hand shortly.

Checked out the Seymour Duncan site too. The test sounds are handy, though none of them bear much resemblance to the noise I like to make. The full shred sounds closest I think.

I've seen a few Dimarzio super distortion cheap on Ebay, so that might be the deciding factor come the time.

  8. I'm looking into buying a replacement bridge humbucker for my Ibanez S570. The stock pickups sound fairly weak, just don't cut through when I'm playing with a band. I'm looking for a filthy distortion tone as I play in a raw, loose sounding death metal band (Bonesaw). I've never replaced pickups before, so I'm not really sure whether this is going to solve my guitar tone woes. Considering buying a Dimarzio super distortion but have a little time to mull it over until my next paycheque lands. Can you kind folks offer me any advice?

  9. I have a fairly big box of tapes and cd-rs that I no longer have any use for. i really need my storage space back, so this stuff is free to whoever can pick it up (from Tillydrone) or anyone in the north of the city who PMs me before 8pm (I might be able to drop it off this evening). The music is predominantly black and death metal, some punk, some alt rocky stuff. Ideal for anyone just getting into the nastier end of metal - loads of relatively obscure bands here.

    PM me
