  1. Really, really good album. Hasn't dated nearly as badly as The Stone Roses, although i do accept that albums that define a particular time will always date worse. There are some truly great songs on it.

It never lived up to expectations - it probably couldn't have - but it's still excellent.

  2. I bought the Chems album toady too - quite like it, and was thinking about listening to them "back in the day" in Physics at the back of the class with you Clusk, just prior to actually giving ol' Blacky a piss-induced heart attack....

The man was a bearded moron. I mean honestly, wasting an entire class arguing with me about whether or not I'd managed to wire a plug properly (I had, I ain't no corky).

I've listened to it a couple of times in the car on the way to work and back and it's pretty good, although that salmon song is just rubbish.

  3. At the end of the day, what has this achieved? "You've bombed Glasgow? Where's that? Texas?...What? Scotland? Where the fuck is that?"

Honestly, it's like the RAF bombing Dushanbe. "You want us to bomb where? Dushanbe?...In Tajikistan?...Is that an actual country?"

Useless. They've provided Scottish people with 1) an excuse to moan 2) an excuse to take the piss out of each other and 3) an excuse to take the piss out some incompetant twats who didn't realise that a Smart car would have got through the doors no bother.

And it was all a very convenient day to bury this: Scotsman.com News - Scotland - Treasury to scrap £20bn 'subsidy' from Westminster. Let me thank you, SNP voters...

  4. Was in Fopp on Cockburn Street on Saturday and there were massive gaps on the racks. Looked like they weren't restocking at all. The website was also not taking any orders (and still seems not to be).

The problem with Fopp is that they opened far too many stores far to quickly at a time when the demand for CDs was dropping off dramatically. Why they opened the branch on Rose Street (literally three minutes walk from Cockburn Street), I'll never know. Instead of having one really good shop, they had two pretty poorly stocked ones. It was of course even better back in the day when it was on the other side of Cockburn Street and just a wee independent franchise.

Avalanche is also down to one store now - used to be 4 in Edinburgh at its peak - and they've kept open what is (in my opinion anyway) the worst one, on Cockburn Street (and the stock in it is shit). The best one was the tiny wee one on Lady Lawson Street which inspite of only having a few hundred CDs always, ALWAYS had what you went in for. Plus the bloke behind the counter was a really good lad.

And of course, HMV and Virgin will just bump their prices in the face of reduced competition.

  5. ...It wasn't in Fopp yesterday

Fopp sucks nowadays. Every time I've gone in for anything recently (including their fecking massive store on Tottenham Court Road a few months back) they haven't had stuff that was released that week.

I remember when absolutely nothing in their cost more than a tenner - HMV's often better now and that's saying something.

  6. Ach well, after today's final that'll be the end to the season 06/07.

So might as well start talking about next season....

Who are your team playing in pre-season friendlies?

Any summer transfers/rumours for your club?

    Barcelona and Everton for friendlies.

So many transfer rumours (as you'd expect) - as long as we punt a load of the shitty Eastern Europeans I'll be a lot happier, Jankauskas and Klimek already gone, hopefully Barasa, Ivaskevicius, Kanchelskis etc to follow. Hleb's brother is an almost certain incoming. Rumour doing the rounds of Hart from Aberdeen, but don't see it happening myself. Been linked with Robson (thumbs up), Naysmith (thumbs up - but no chance), Rae (thumbs down), Steven Hughes from Leicester (thumbs wavering in the middle).

As long as it's a significant improvement on this season, I'll be happy.

  7. Cracking goal by Sevvy. Aberdeen deserved to get 3rd above us, because we didn't play for a win today - and you did and you got it. Wish you the best of luck and genuinely hope you actually make a dent in Europe next season. Well done lads.

  8. Base your results on this season only

Best team you've played against - AEK Athens - we may well have made them look better than they are though.

Worst team you've played against - Motherwell - I swear the televised game a couple of months back was one of the most miserable matches I've ever watched.

Best performance by your team - 2-1 vs Celtic at the start of the season - should have won comfortably, but didn't let the heads go down when they got the (inevitable) equaliser. Season was looking good at that point.

Worst performance by your team - So many. Sparta Prague at Murrayfield probably shades it though, just because it was such an important match and we didn't turn up.

Your team in general - Fucking dreadful.

Team in a false position - Hearts or Aberdeen. Although the teams below aren't any better, so maybe not.

Best player for your team - Tricky one. Barassa? Just kidding. Most improved is definitely Christophe Berra. Could well turn into a very important player for us and has managed to get a game most weeks, which is impressive considering. Craig Gordon obviously, but has been affected by all the shite that's gone on.

Best player for another team - Naismith

Best goal scored by your team - Mikoliunas vs Celtic (2-1 defeat) or Mikoliunas vs Hibs (3-2 win)

Best goal scored by another team - Any scored by Rangers or Celtic against Aberdeen in the next couple of games (assuming we win tomorrow and it still matters).
