  1. My thoughts,

    Femora

For a first gig excellent, sludge need to work off a bit of the nerves but that's understandable for a first gig, especially on the main stage through that massive PA. Vocals unexpectedly good, and all in all a pleasant suprise

    MMW

All obviously talented musicians, Dan in particular is pretty spectacular on Guitar, I liked the addition of the solo's which helps move it away from a more generic sound which I was perhaps expecting. Bens voclas were good, although in future, the front of house sound would have been better if he could avoid cupping the mic, right in front of the monitor and singing at the top of his voice. Jimmy the engineer was faced with the dilemma of either having a bit of feedback in the front of house sound or reducing Ben's vocals in the mix and making it hard to hear him. I did ask Jimmy what the soloution was and he said 'I'm an engineer not a fucking miracle worker'. BUt no matter and I did think Ben's stage presence made a difference.

    POO

For me, the band of the night, but then I prefer slightly slower melodic tunes. I thought Bob's guitar was a bit brash and harsh for the tunes and could have been a bit warmer. Impressed by the vocals, and keeshers bass.

    Quik

I can see the attraction for people in Quik, but I don't particularly share it. Talented musicians, work well together and have good presence on stage. For me, a bit heavy sounding, I watch them more for the show than to listen to the music.I thought the Bass was a bit harsh maybe, but then again maybe that's how it was supposed to sound. What do I know?

rob, is it ok for me to give you a cd at soundcheck tommorrow?

As a present thats fine, I'd appreciate it.

If you wanted to have it included in the awards presentation, then no, it's too late.

Never fear though, Ross worked round your slackness by going to one up and buying a copy of your co-operation without restraint EP out of his own pocket.

  4. Going fast, so far we have:

    Kai

    Ben Quik

    Delboy + Zombie Munch

    rainbowprincess

    Blimey Brian,

back in my day a band would buy you beer, and probably blow you too in the vague hope of maybe getting a support alot in front of 50 people.

You offer them a slot in front of 350 people and they want you to buy them beer?

*there will be a band rider, and food as well. But not because anybody deserves it. Just because we are terminally nice guys*

  6. Alright, Alright, Alright

Going to macro tomorrow, to buy space raiders and Pringles....

No peanuts though, i did suggest it, but Mark goes into anaphylactic shock if he eats one...... and he's worried about what would happen the next time he pisses someone off and they have a simple means of killing him.

  7. The idea is that for every award a big screen will roll down in fromt of the drum kit, and in true awards show fashion

    "and the nominees are.........

followed by (preferably) video footage of the nominees for each category with their songs playing in the background"

What you send will be edited to form the nominee sections, so if you only send a logo that's all that will be on the video, we may also edit the whole lot onto a VCD to give out afterwards, maybe with some footage of the awards themselves.

my email is rob@moshulu.net but please don't send me 600mb video footage, that needs to be burnt to CD and dropped off. Closing date is 10th February for submissions.

Some of the stuff is fair enough, but a 150 minidisk player? I wish I could leave things that valuable lying around and not bother about it if I lost it
