  1. I'm not going to buy a single ticket for Triptych until pretty close to the festival. Then I'll see what I really want to go and see. Its not a bad line up overall (in Aberdeen) but tis expensive and not that terribly innovative IMHO / IMCstrokersO....
  2. The Optimo DJs and Hotchip support according to the Ltree website

  9. Yee Gods! Someone listens to Neepsound.....
  10. Anyone going to see Leafcutter John @ the B Lamp tomorrow night? I can take or leave jazz generally but the combination of jazz and electronica sounds quite intertesting... I assume this is the same Leaf John who records for Leaf & Planet Mu records? Dave e.00pm Blue Lamp 10 (8 conc) Polar Bear Drummer Sebastian Rochfords band Polar Bear is probably the hottest jazz group in London at the moment, winners of this years BBC Jazz Awards for new talent, and topping polls for Best Record of 2004. Rochford is from Aberdeen, but his band has never played his home town before. Pete Wareham and Ingrid Laubrock (saxophones), Tom Herbert (bass) and Rochford (drums) are joined tonight by the electronics of Leafcutter John. Their music is based on big melodies, strong rhythmical structures and wide open space for improvisation. They incorporate left-field pop/rock sensibilities into a contemporary jazz framework that acknowledges the entire modern jazz tradition. A powerful start to the Jazz Festival at the Blue Lamp.
  11. Mum - a strange but nice blend of Boards of Canada, Bjork with Matos, Sigur Ros and Four Tet. Very atmospheric in an Icelandic sort of way....
  12. Mmmmmmm Drones, samples, krautrock vs Alvin Lucier at its best in a nice interesting venue. A rather nice night. Dave
  13. And I mentioned Andy Goldsworthy, a sculptor of natural gubbins...
  14. My tastes are always evolving but I like Andy Goldsworthy, Dali and Roy Lichtenstein amongst many others... Or rather I can remember their names! BTW there is normally some Dali on display @ the Dean Gallery in Edinburgh. http://www.sculpture.org.uk/artists/AndyGoldsworthy http://www.answers.com/topic/roy-lichtenstein
  15. Yes but dont ask him to install printers. I was actually listening to the whole 2003 live Mogwai peel session last night. Rather nice quality.... French / dcmacd - you gents going to the Peacock thingy tonight?
  16. Its a pity this was shown on the same night as IF2 at the Ltree. IF2 was very interesting for those that missed it. The short films touched on a range of issues including alienation, racism, culture, the Scottish psyche, escapism, nationalism and mental illness. Nice and thought provoking... Dave
