  1. Having trouble getting gigs listed on the calendar and at the top of the home page. Do I have to send the info to someone other than Onlynik? Gomes
  2. Didn't realise it was my job to get them drunk as well? I'm afraid I'll have to update my refreshment rider - can I get 2500 pints of lager, 35 bottles of JD, the same of Smirnoff...fuck it, let's just overrun the security and barstaff. Lock-in anyone? DJ GOMES (Purveyor of phat and phunky beats - and promoter of the soon-to-launch WAX hip-hop night at Kef featuring Q-Bert as first official guest on 27th April. Whoops...was that a plug? Unintentional, I promise.)
  3. DJ Q-BERT(THUD RUMBLE/PREMIERE ARTISTS GROUP) HAVING FIRST EMERGED AS A MEMBER OF SAN FRANCISCOS ALL-CONQUERING INVISIBL SKRATCH PIKLZ (ALONGSIDE D-STYLES, MIXMASTER MIKE, YOGA FROG AND SHORTKUT), Q-BERT HAS REVOLUTIONISED THE ART OF DJING AND BECOME AN AMBASSADOR FOR TURNTABLISTS ALL OVER THE WORLD. DMC WORLD CHAMPION THREE YEARS IN A ROW, ITS RUMOURED (FALSELY) THAT Q-BERT AND HIS CREW WERE BANNED FROM FUTURE COMPETITIONS, THE REASON BEING OTHER DJS WERENT INTERESTED IN ENTERING A COMPETITION THEN CONSIDERED A FOREGONE CONCLUSION. INSTEAD, Q-BERT BECAME A DMC JUDGE. IN 1998, ALONG WITH MIXMASTER MIKE, Q-BERT WAS INDUCTED INTO THE DMC HALL OF FAME. HE IS ALSO CREDITED WITH RELEASING ONE OF THE FIRST TURNTABLE CONCEPT ALBUMS, WAVE TWISTERS. HIS DEFT SCRATCHING ALSO APPEARS ON KOOL KEITHS CLASSIC DR OCTAGON LP. OTHER RECORDINGS INCLUDE CONTRIBUTIONS ON BOMB HIP-HOPS RETURN OF THE DJ VOL.1 AND THE SHIGGAR FRAGGAR SHOW VOL. 1. AT 10 FOR ADVANCE TICKETS, YOUD HAVE TO BE TRYPPING TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE! 6. THE IN CROWD IN ASSOCIATION WITH ULTRAPHUNK PRESENTS FREDDY FRESH OUTSTANDING IN HIS FIELD ALBUM RELEASE TOUR And indeed he is! Minneapolis b-boy and funk merchant, co-owner of label Against The Grain with cohort Krafty Kuts, Fresh has done it all in a career spanning almost 25 years. Hes released over a hundred 12 singles, including hits La Lyrica and Badda Badda Schwing (both taken from the excellent 2001 album The Last True Family Man, the latter being a collaboration with Fatboy Slim). Freddy Fresh has also remixed/collaborated with artists such as Eminen, Boogie Down Productions, Grandmaster Flash, Schooly D, Jacknife Lee, Sugarhill Gang, The Freestylers, and many others. His DJ bio has been described as simply crazy. As a tour DJ, he has supported the likes of Run DMC, the Jungle Brothers, Sugarhill Gang and Ugly Duckling, whilst also headlining Creamfields, Glastonbury and Reading festivals. Freddy Freshs blend of electro, hip-hop and breaks has also resulted in appearances alongside Africa Bambaata, Grandmaster Flash, Fun Lovin Criminals and Metallica. A guaranteed great night out. Support from Ultraphunk residents T1NO & NELLY. Advance tickets priced 7 (5 students) available from: One-Up Records, Fopp and Correction Records (s.t.b.f) SATURDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 11pm 3am KEF, 9 Belmont Street, Aberdeen. Tel: (01224) 648000
  7. This post has no purpose other than to take the Freddy Fresh thread back to the top of the list!
  8. I don't think the main difference is lyrical content. That inplies every hip-hop song has a rapper or another form of vocal. Hip-hop can be just instrumentals. I think most people understand what constitutes a "bling" tune. It isn't the technical way to describe the likes of 50 Cent, etc. but I bet most people knew straight away that I was referring to the afore mentioned "Fiddy" rather than the Roots or Dialated Peoples. Besides you still haven't actually come up with any decent names. The belmont-street.com site has the poll, so have a look and if the two names that are there don't grab you then maybe you can suggest an alternative. P.S (Plug) - Freddy Fresh at Kef this Saturday, support from Ultraphunk's T1NO and Nelly.
  9. "Not That Bling Sh*t" doesn't really roll of the tongue. What's real hip-hop? Anyone?
