  1. i have managed to pick up german radio a couple of times, i think its usually a combination of poor shielding somewhere in the system, and high gain devices like fuzz pedals can help contribute

part of it depends on the atmospheric conditions too, as the weather can affect how well the radio waves travel, so in certain conditions you can get signals from pretty far away

somehow the few times i have managed it at home i have always seemed to pick up german talk radio...

if the signal was digital, your amp wouldnt be able to convert it back into speech, normal radio (am at least, cant say for sure about fm) can get picked up and amplified via guitar amps, so it would have to be from an analouge transmitter somewhere

  2. cool, they dont sound too hard to find

what sort of stuff do they have in stock? someone mentioned MXR which sounds excellent, any other decent effects or guitars/amps they would have in (that we dont have in aberdeen)

i will have to drive down for a look sometime soon

  3. does anyone know of any semi decent places apart from the usuall rnb/bruce millers/prosound? not necessarily in aberdeen, but preferably close enough?

the places here are pretty good, but i was just wandering if there is anywhere else that may have some new guitars/pedals and the like...

  4. For guitar I have found Vox wahs to be nicer sounding than Crybabies.

in what way to you find them different?

i have a GCB-95 crybaby and dont really like it, and i am wandering if it is just me not liking wah pedals or me not liking that wah in particular.

i was playing with a dime wah and it was excellent, as you can set it to work for rhythmy riffs and powerchord type stuff, without being completely overbearing and crappy like teh crybaby i have is, just wandering if there were any pedals out there that would suit what i want better stock, or if i would need to spend a bit more on something liek the dime i can setup as i like

  5. they averaged out the curve of a large amount of bananas to get a curve radius that would fit almost every banana

nullmouse, they were mentioned in the magazine mbuk ages ago (where i heard of them)

useful if you like eating bananas, but dont enjoy them quite so much after they have been squished in your bag all afternoon...

personally i hate bananas, apples all the way...

  6. It makes me think "well if you fucked it up last time' date=' whats saying this is any better?"[/quote']

i would say its more 'we know we cocked up before, so here is us fixing the problem'

bah to diet drinks anyway, all they ever are is poor tasting eqivalents of the normal ones (except in the case of diet coke with lemon, which was nice, but it was different anyway)

  7. alex, for the feedback looper, it would be a really cool idea if you had a footswitch to choose between feedback loop or true bypass loop, so you can use the pedals normally as well as in the fb loop for crazyness

not sure how it would work with your active circuitry (since i dont know what the schematics like) but on a passive fb loop its just a case of using a spst switch to cut the connection between the send and return jacks to let it function as just a loop

  8. If you could make anything along the lines of a Vex Fuzz Factory pedal i'd be more than willing to purchase one. I've had my eye on one for a fair while after cowboy dan pointed them oot to me and have been wanting one to experiment with for ages. Only problem is that 200 plus is miles out of what i'll pay for one pedal.

    Demo

i got my fuzz factory for 124...

there is a slightly newer version of it now' date=' exactly the same as the normal one, but the enclosure is silk screened instead of handpainted, so it looks different but sounds exactly the same, and quite a bit cheaper, i got mine from [url']www.soundsgreatmusic.com

    awesome pedal

  9. for the feedback looper, would doing it with all your extra buffers and mv really be that much use over a normal passive one?

tav, a feedback looper basically takes some of the output of a pedal, and feeds it back into the input, so you can get self oscillation from distortion pedals and some funny effects from some other types

it is really easy to build a simple one, i could find a schematic if you want

i really need to get all teh parts for the fuzz i want to make, basically a really simple basic fuzz (the bazz fuss to be exact) but with switches to choose between different transistors and clipping diodes to completely change the character of it, and i am thinking abotu switchable input/output caps for use with bass too

i need to get my hands on loads of diodes and whatnot and breadboard it to see what is actually useful in a fuzz, so i can have a few different settings that should all be useful

mostly i am making it as an excuse to use these on a pedal

  10. episodes VII-IX have been Star Wars fokelore for over a decade.

I seem to remember being about 7 or 8 and being really excited about them. For some reason' date=' I also knew that obi wan beat Anakin and that he fell into a volcano, thus the darth vader costume.

turns out I wasn't far off! Was this common Star Wars knowledge? I honestly don't know where I got it from.[/quote']

why darth vader wears the armour has been known for years

as for 7-9, it was origonally planned to be 9 episodes long, but i know they stopped people writing books before the origonal trilogy, so lucas would have a clean slate to write the stories as he planned them without extra facts getting in the way and contradicting things, whereas after episode 6 it was a free space, so writers have created what happens (which generally stays constant from book to book) so i have no idea how 7-9 would fit in, i am hoping they do something like film adaptations of the thrawn trilogy as those are all excellent books (its lluke btw if i am not mistaken)

he has said that it is the end of the saga and there will be no more films though...

*fingers crossed starwars isnt finished yet*

  11. hey man thanks thats a lot of help. i didnt know you could get humbuckers that are the same size as single coils. thats cool and youve probably saved me a lot of hassle and a bit of money' date=' so if you see a ginger fucker with tattoos demand a pint! cheers dude[/quote']

i am trying to find a picture of exactly how the trem in the jag works, i know the button blocks it from raising the pitch, so if you break a string it will stay in tune, so you can partially block it, i cant find the picture to work out how hard it would be to block it fully though.

if theres anythign else i can do to help, just give me a shout

  12. well i want to dump the stupid floating bridge and get a mustang one put in. and also take out the single coils and put in seymore duncan humbuckers. i would like to change all the wiring to more quality components to try to cut out buzz etc. do you know how much this would cost and if i would be able to do it myself? althoug i dont really trust myself with the wiring. cheers.

for the bridge' date=' it would be easier just blocking it off, i know there is the button on the bridge to block it one direction, and you could always block it the other way too if you felt the need (a bit more involved, but pretty easy to do)

if you still have the standard jag bridge, ou can replace the tuneomatic type part (with the saddles) with a mustang one, which is a direct replacement, and works better (there are proper grooves for the strings and whatnot)

rewiring a guitar is fairly easy as long as you know how to solder

rewiring wouldnt really get rid of buzz though, switching the singlecoils for humbuckers would help a lot, as would making sure all the electronics are sheilded properly

as for humbuckers, that would be the hardest part to do, you would need toget a new pickguard or cut the one you have to get them to fit and mount properly to it and you will also probably need to route inside the guitar to get enough space to fit them so that job would be best left to a pro

have you looked at the singlecoils sized humbuckers? they would drop right in without any need for work on the body. check out the pickups at [url']www.seymourduncan.com (under the strat section) the jb junior and lil 59 are both single sized humbuckers, and there are a couple others that might interest you like the vintage rails or duckbuckers which are voiced like singlecoils, but with no hum. using something like these would definately be a lot easier, and you can always stick back in the origonal pickups if you want and not be left with permanent mods to the guitar, check the sd site for a bit more about all the different pickups

as for costs, i have no idea, best bet is to work out exactly what you need done, then get in touch with neil at prosound (or whoever you will take it to) and ask him for a rough quote
