go ask the same qurestion on www.guitarchat.co.uk (or via www.regentguitars.co.uk, its their forum)
and you do pay for what you get with acoustics more, cheaper wood will have much more of a degrading effect compared to an electrics which can be partly hidden behind the pickups
having said that though, i got a 3/4 argos acoustic from a friend for my birthday and i do like the sound of it quite a lot

when i have been viewing the forum recently there has been a menu bar to the top left with todays events below it,
its a cool idea to have just at the moment it shifts the forum over to the left, which means it dosent fit to the page anymore and you have to scroll to see everything
would it be possible to move this to the top of the page out the way or something similar so as the forum fits the screen properly?
much thanks

best idea,
write your sig in a normal post reply window, ther you get all the stuff, then copy it, change to the create sig window and paste it there

check out the juggernaut, bass distortion
i have a rat2 (guitar) and love it, it seemed to work fine when playing with it running dist for a bass, so i guess the bass version sould be most excellent
and i wouldnt worrk about blowing a speaker, they ar made for bass amps so can usually handle the sound, they are only likely to blow if you play at extremely loud volumes, generally you can di a bass or mic it up to keep the volume down a bit and keep the speaker in the green

i think names are pretty important, they convey your first impression of a band, if i said today i got cd's by nevermore and shadows fall (which i did) then you could probably guess they were hevy metal or something similar
also it gives you an impression of the bands attitude, you can guess nevermore are going to be a pretty serious band, whereas the offspring sound more happy and fun
at it gives you your first idea on how 'cool' the band is, if a cd has a cool name on it then you are more likely to pick it up than if it had a dumb name (or vice versa depending on taste)

Its going to sound and look pretty stupid to just stop and then get a friend to pass another guitar. At least with a guitar with a normal vibrato/hard tail you could keep going until the end of the song/an available moment to change guitar. Plus I don't have any friends, let alone any with guitar knowledge who would play roadie for me.
bad luck then, make do with an out of tune one or attempt some whammy bar acrobatics to fill the space
there are bad points about floyds, but i like the good parts enough to take the chance

Yeah, but if you're playing live and you break a string, all the strings go out of tune, where's if you break a string on a guitar with a non floyd rose/floating vibrato it might be possible to keep playing till the end of the song.
But as for the straps, a wider strap might be able to distribute the weight of a heavy guitar a bit better.
spare guitar, plus a friend with some guitar knowledge at the side of the stage, sorted

Lats year i bought a peavey v-type, pretty lightweight, sexy, smaller than your avarage guitar and only 395 or something like that. However i did make the mistake of buying one with a floyd rose - if you can i'd order the string thru body model.
My baby - but dont get the floyd rose - unless you can dig the hassle
floyds are easy to use as long as you know what your doing, if you need any help pm me and i shall try to help out
they can take a bit of time to set up and get playing but once your sorted they are great to use and easy enough to work

hmm, best bet is to get to a music shop and try out a few guitars, sitting down and standing with it on a strap, i used to like light guitars, and am pretty weakly built, but i got a pretty heavy guitar and i like it, makes it feel more solid,
basically the best bet is to try for yourself, bruce millers and r'n'b have quite a few different guitars between them, try out the ibanez talman r'n'b have, its very light (built semi acoustically) but i cant remember the price, could also give cort a look (in r'n'b again) not sure of the weights but very very good guitars for the money, you could probably get one with emgs (the real ones not the passive bollocks) or duncans (again real duncans not duncan designed) for you budget

a hook isnt a thing in particular, it refers to having a song that will stick in your head, the chorus you have been singing for the last few hours, that is the hook, the memorable part of the song
lick is a song, or part a song you can play, when someone says, lets hear your licks they want to hear your best riffs and playing
any others?

if its a cheap guitar it couls be a microphonic pickup, that would need replacing or wax potting to stop
