  1. I go valve personally, but I play in a gigging band, and have cash.

They are better, but like the boy says - mostly if you gig.

I have a Marshall Superbass and a 30th Anniversary head. I've also had the following valve amps - Orange OR80, Mesa F-50, Engl Thunder, Peavey Classic 30, Marshall DSL 201, Peavey Classic VT, Peavey 5150, ZVex Nano Amp, Marshall JMP MKII.

But If i didn't gig and just played in the house I'd buy a Vox Valvetronix 15 Watter.

That was my plan til I ordered a MiniMatt head from Matamp - but that wasa treat to myself for quitting my job. (Quit your job, don't have another one? Buy a new guitar amp. Yeah)

  2. maybe 2nd?

It's a long drive, and we have some serious drinking to do. And we generally don't like to do too much drinking before we play, so 2nd'd awesome.

As for equipment, we're just bringing our guitars and pedals and snare/pedal/cymbals. The moorings gear is up to our rider-demand standard.

Although, will Flash be providing a pile of coke so high it has a ski lift on it for us?

  3. The Holy Bible was alirght, but they are a bunch of fags now.

Too much posturing and blind sloganeering - 'Let's Kill Art' - 'let's record 1 great album then split up'. Yeah, I'm still waiting fucknuts. Quit eating too.

The saddest thing is the certain group of twenty-somethings who still rabbit on about them and wait with baited breath for the next pile of turd to be excreted by the skirt wearing Welsh poofs. However, if you ask them they'll all say - 'yeah they're rubbish now, should have split up when Richie disappeared'.

Denial - a sickening thing to watch.

To put things in context, I'm sitting here listening to Van Halen I and stroking the beginnings of my mullet. And I'm not joking.

  4. Matamp are an excellent company. I';ve been down to there factory and they are very caring and professional and friendly guys.

Totally trying to provide value for money, and the work they do is excellent.

I had an inkiling an amp liek this was in the offing as I spoke to them a lot about my old ZVex Nano head.

  5. That's cool - glad you like it.

We're up in a couple of weeks, and I've already shot-gunned it.

I'm picking up my new amp today - a Marshall 30th Anniversary 100W head. They are pretty bad ass, and I got a deal on it on ebay.

Been playing a 100W Superbass head - liking it a lot. Using a Weber Attenuator with though, as fully cranked you can hear it from over a half a mile away. We measured.

And you gotta play it cranked.....

  6. Jekyll & Hyde overdrive/distortion pedal.

Two channel pedal. Green side is a tubescreamer clone with gain, tone, volume and switchable bass boost. Red side is a distortion pedal with gain, vol, tone, and voicing (mid scoop thing). Also has a sharp/blunt vocing switch.

Both sides have an independant footswitch and can be on at teh same time for solo gain boosts or whatever.

Excellent condition and comes with box and all the junk you get with it (piece of paper with settings etc).

Has a tone buffer circuit that helps stop signal degredation when in a chain of pedals. This is the newer red model too.

The reason I'm selling is that I only use the green side and space on my pedal board is limited after buying some EHX pedals. Will take trades towards a smaller overdrive unit (modded SD-1, MXR pedal or soemthing like that). 65 quid otherwise. They are 115 new, and the last 2 to go on ebay went for 72 and 73 respectively.

  7. Get a Line 6 DL4 - it has loads of different kinds of sounds - tube echos, analogue, multihead delays, ones with sweep filters, reverse delays, ping-pongs, stereos, rythytmtytic etc etc. I got one for 120 pounds inc shipping from ebay America. It has tap tempo, plus 3 presets. And a looper function that you can reverse, slow down and play on top of and record onto your loop.

  8. I've had a few. I generally buy second hand thoguh and at or lower than market value, so I never really lose money.

    I've had:

JCM 2000 DSL 201 combo - too wussy

Marshall JMP 50W combo (then made into head) - pretty sweet, but felt limited by single channel and amount of buzz you got

ENGL Thunder - very nice, no probs but had opportunity to get a cheap Mesa so sold it to JOn form my band since his amp at the time sucked. Still use it occasionally.

Orange OR80 - too much amp for me, and had no attenuator at teh time. Bought for 200 as a chassis, got a matamp headshell for 75 and sold for 600.

Mesa F-50 - nice amp, but having reliability problems. Got it in states for 400 and then 30 for the step down transformer. Will probably be selling it sometime soon once the tech gets it all fixed up.

Peavey Classic 30 which I swapped Jon from my band for the 'War" Marhsall cab. Still sits in our practice room

ZVEX nano 0.5 W head - it was cool for the house, but had bills to pay so had to sell it. Will get another one day.

The matamp cab ws 165 second hand from a guy on the matamp boards. They are 249 new. Quite a lot of good deals on those boards.

  9. Was browsing guitar guitar in Edinburgh on the day I got paid.

Picked this bad by up for 399.

Truly awesome sounding - I got to try it out in a sound proof room - I fgured it actually sounded nicer than my Mesa or the Engl I used to have.
