I've been in your Polish nation for last couple of months, albeit in the lower regions. And while I'm with you on polish to polish translations, my main pet hate here is still toilets with 2 inch gaps all around the door, the door which is also barely chest height, so if crack peeping isn't enough, just pop your head over for a good look.

Just go the whole roaster and take a shit in the urinal, that'll learn them.

  2. Learn to record music yourself, write your own and self-release on bandcamp/whatever until you're old enough that others in your year start to develop an interest in being in a band. Then you'll have a bunch of songs that you can start a full band with or you can Lord it over them as an established solo artist.

If you want to play to people, set up a YouTube account and webcam yourself playing tunes. Works for tons of people. There are live streaming platforms out there where you could play 'virtual' gigs as well.

Seriously though, don't let lack of interest from your peers worry you. I was one of two people who listened to alternative types of music when I was at school. I didn't like the other person. I've been in bands, released music and am now releasing solo music. You'll get where you want to be, just keep going :)

  3. I've pretty much finished my first solo EP. Just a few tweaks here and there.

I set myself a target of having it finished before the end of August so it was finished in advance of my 2nd kid being born in September/October, mission accomplished :)

Pretty happy with it and looking forward to starting work on an album next year.

I've been really enjoying your tracks! Keep up the good work :)

Thanks man, just struggling to land on a 4th song for the EP. Hopefully have something sorted over the weekend.

Will mail you those vocals too!

Great sounding track, I really like it.  The staccato keys parts really make it in my opinion.  They add an edge and keep the concentration.  When they stop at 0:55 I feel a real relaxation point and then my attention is picked up again when they come back in.  They induce a sense of anxiety that prevents me from not listening or paying attention.  If they were smoother swooooshes it might add a totally different feel to the track though it might be more relaxing if that was the intention of the track.  To me the track has a very subtle menace to it.

I don't really like the hand clamp sound, this is personal preference, it sounds cheap to me as it just reminds me of cheap 1980's keyboards.  I guess this is probably exactly why you use it though!

Great track though, I'd like to hear the EP when your finished.

Thanks :) glad you enjoyed listening to it. I've definitely left a kinda dark undertone in there for atmosphere.

Hopefully have the rest of the EP finished come end of this month and all being well it will be released on the Binary School label, Binary Trax :)

So bad. Just so, so bad. Not even hilariously bad. Like, the first HOUR of the movie is the origin of how they get their powers, then they gloss over them using their powers for military applications as soldiers in a 30 second montage, there's half an hour of setting up for the final fight and it lasts about 10 minutes.

Comfortably the worst superhero movie I've seen, and possibly the worst movie I've ever seen.

    xx

You obviously haven't seen Billy Zane as the Phantom or Nicholas Cage as Ghostrider...

  7. Yeah, aside from this forum (which has about 10 regular posters) I don't really frequent any music forums at all. I found a lot of the other "gear" or recording ones a bit snobby but I may just have hit the wrong ones.

I'm not sure what electronic music forums there are either. I'll have a scout about.

I'll also have a look at my tags on Bandcamp too!

I'd not really thought about blogs, not sure again what ones would be worth looking at electronic music wise as I don't read any myself :(

I dig it. It's got a swooshy trip-hop thing going in. I'm in to that, but don't listen to enough of it.

The one part of the song which I thought clashed a little bit - to my ears anyway - is the staccato bass rhythm which comes in at the start and stays constant throughout. Everything else seems very sustained, the strings and the reverb soaked vocals sweep over the percussion, but the bass pulses seem to stick out a little bit. It's not necessarily bad, but on first listen it didn't seem to fit. But perhaps in context with the rest of he EP, it may fall in to place. I'd definitely like to hear more.

Cheers, it's probably just my bass playing but I just wanted to add a little "thump" to it. In that respect it fits the sort of grind of the others.

I'm aiming this EP as a sort of concept based around sex/love. Sleeper will be track 3 which kind of represents bliss or euphoria. I have track 2, Night Moves (which has been described by at least one person who's heard the bones of it as "shagging music"), tracked out I just need to put some frills and get a vocalist. I'm also working on track 1, The Chase, and track 4, Glow. But they're a bit further behind in terms of development.

Where I'm headed with it I've got clear in my head at least :)

    Thanks again for listening though.

  9. I'm not new to the idea of getting music out and about but what do you folks find to be the best way of pointing people in the direction of your music?

Facebook is a bit hit and miss (though I have had a decent bit of success out of it recently when I was in Needleman it always felt like a struggle), I use bandcamp and soundcloud but to me both seem to be aimed more at established acts rather than at those looking to use it as a launchpad.

I'm specifically at a loss with electronic music as I'm not really that knowledgeable about that scene.

    Any ideas or discussion welcomed.

Enjoyed it. Almost sounded like it could be on a Ninja Tunes or Sunday Best compilation - which I'm very much into.

Thanks man, I'm a massive Cinematic Orchestra fan so there's a minor (and obviously less talented) nod to them I guess.

Hmmm. I didn't care for it. I found it a bit backgroundy and monotone. I hate giving negative feedback because I know how much it sucks when you put a lot of yourself into a song and then  people don't like it, and I also hate to use the old cop-out  of "it's well played and everything but it's not my cup of tea" but I kind of have to, or at least a close relative of it: it's not a bad song, I just didn't like it. I'll happily listen to further recordings though. Maybe this one just didn't do it for me.

That's cool, cheers for listening though! I'm the same, I hate saying "it's not my cup of tea" and if I can be a bit more constructive I will. How did you find it from a production point of view?

I don't even see your feedback as negative really, backgroundy is synonymous with ambient for me and I can cope with people not liking my stuff :)

Thanks for taking the time out to listen though.

Looks like the much-maligned Sam Allardyce for England. Not a very inspired appointment, but who else is there? It was him or Pardew. The argument that so many foreign players in the Premier League is affecting the national team has been going on forever, but it's starting to go the same way with managers IMO. The Premier League is attracting the best players and managers in the world, but the number of English players and managers in the league must be at an all time low. I've got no statistics to back that up, but it sounds right so I'll go with it.

I think Eddie Howe would've been a good shout, Sam can probably handle the egos in ways that Howe couldn't but I think Howe has more tactical ability and plays more attractive football, especially with attacking players in mind.

The sentence was conveniently under 2 years, despite it being fraud worth millions, so he won't even go to jail. Nor his Dad. How do Barca players keep getting in this mess though? Neymar has a similar case rumbling on which sounds way more complicated. Mascherano and Dani Alves have also had tax issues. Pay your bills, you rich tossers.

Middlesbrough have just signed Victor Valdes, and are supposedly in for Subotic and Van Persie. Awesome.

Premier League this season is going to be nuts. That telly money is just stupid. Watford have turned down a £30m bid for Deeney and a £40m for Igahlo, because they just don't need the money, because TV money. Palace are making £30m bids for players. It was only about 5 years ago that £30m was the PL transfer record, now everyone in the league can lob £30m at anyone.

Pogba will probably break the world record fee this summer, either by Madrid or United. Which is mad, because whilst he's good, he's just not that good. Capable of the spectacular, but he doesn't totally boss a game, like Kroos and Modric can, who Madrid already have, and both are better than him at what they do. They'll be worsening their midfield by forcing him in to it.

Couldn't agree more about Pogba, he's great at surging forward and creating a bit of solo brilliance but he's not the great team player capable of getting stuck in one moment and then dictating the tempo of the game the next like Kroos and Modric (I'd also say a fit Schweinsteiger is better as well).

Securing a house in the south of England is pretty great.

Leaving in Aberdeen in a couple of weeks. We've been wanting to do it for a few years but could never make it happen. The missus getting made redundant was as good a time as any.

So, Bye Aberdeen. King Street really smells, but the rest of you is okay.

Good stuff, hope things are good for you down there. Are we talking Devon/Cornwall or the other side?
