  1. ...the guitars could be done with less gain' date=' and the guy in the left channel needs a better sound, it sounds like a wasp...guitar in the right speaker sounds ok though...

    Where was it recorded?[/quote']

I listened to Road to Ruin.

I think both guitars don't sound good. If this recording had really great sound chunky metal guitar sounds it'd be much better. They are just a bit wussy/hissy.

The drum sound is ok and I really like the vocals they sound really good. Perhaps just using Tom's again and spending more time making sure you get good sounds from each instrument...as with most recording isn't the phrase "shit in...shit out"?

You could always try The Mill. A lot of good quality recordings have come from there. Last time I heard it was 25 per hour so multi-tracking...won't be cheap.

  2. more along the lines of hatbreed' date=' diecast, terror.....[/quote']

If you want to sound like Hatebreed go out and buy a Marshall Mode 4, DSL100 and a Boss Line Selector Pedal....slight problem this *may* cost thousands of pounds.

Trying pedals would be a good option. I can get quite an impressive sound from a little 50watt Marshall combo with a DOD Grunge pedal. Very big and metal sounding. It is an easy pedal to have go fuzzy so I just keep the treble real low. You should look into pedals...even one that you wouldn't normally think about...like the "Grunge."

I can't think of much to add to the discussion other than what others have said...remember the louder you play the more mid you will need in your sound.

  3. Pearl Jam:

    The evidence

    Ten (fantastically brilliant)

    Versus (brilliant)

    Vitalogy (very good)

    No Code (good)

    Yeild (not bad)

    Binaural (bad)

    Riot Act (shite)

    Lost Dogs (kill me)

If anything Pearl Jam got slightly worse before getting much better. Yeild and Riot Act are amazing albums with lots of contrasts...you're silly...

  4. Pirhana with the Neutrick connects seem to be quite good. I prefer leads with the metal connectors that have the covers which can be screwed off. Then if they break you can easily re-solder them. When I was down at Soundcontrol they had a good value range of their own leads...ask Lewis about those he bought one.

  5. Prob. should have quoted. I was replying the very first post where he lists what he is using just now. I though using a real speaker cab + mic would be better as it takes off a lot of horrid frequencies that using distortion pedals directly can cause. Apprently the speaker takes out some of the highs the pedal will produce and makes it a more appealing sound.

  6. so perhaps this guy may be linked to some other pre planned or previous terrorist event' date=' but they may wish, for one reason or another, to not to say at this point in time.

Hopefully the enquiry will find out the why's and whats.[/quote']

I too heard that he had been watched before the event...we might never find out who he was...there is probably a lot of going ons in this country that the public have never known about and never will.

  7. It seems more like their style. As far as I am aware the police are more stand off in their approach to using fire arms and also choose to aim for larger areas. They would be more likely to aim for the body opposed to the head...which is significantly trickier to hit...I think it points away from the police but if it was the SAS I can't see them owning up to it?

  8. Has anyone thought on here that it might not be police that shot him. I don't mean just randoms obviously. On TV yesterday there was an "expert" speaking about how it doesn't add up to an ordinary police shooting. In fact, when it first happened the descriptions that were given didn't sound like a police shooting to me either. I think there is quite a high possibility that it may be another department...SAS maybe...special branch?

It is a shame that an innocent man has been killed. He was under observation before the shooting so I don't know what that means?

  9. I think getting 66million would be getting the chance to try and do something good...I would like to set up some buisnesses. Some for my own pleasure and others for the benifits of others...I don't know what though. Def. something musical related for myself and plonk it just outside Aberdeen.

I'd have to give large chunks of money to my family. Wouldn't you feel presured to try and help people with all that money? I would feel awkward having so much cash when there are some people who might need it more? It'd be quite a burden.

Other purchases may include: some cars, race car or two, put some money into renewable energy etc, studio, house and who knows what else...

  10. My brother is in need of a laptop for his journalistic persuits. If anyone has anything they are looking to sell leave a message here or drop me a PM. Not looking for top of the line power but something with decent specs, in decent condition and ofcourse at a good price.

    Cheers!

  11. I just listed people I like in my first post. I found it a tad harder to think of singers who I really don't like. The first one that sprung to mind is the singer from Glass jaw...watching them in a studio session you can see the way he really over pronounces his singing...Ape Dos Mil is an OK tune but I can't stand his vocals for any length of time.

Also I forgot to mention Freddy Mercury...legend he should be in my top 5.
