Why the fuck have people started saying this? Is it an american thing? "I couldn't care less" - means exactly that; you don't care one bit. But people say "I could care less" when they mean the former, when what they are saying is that they care. Why the fuck?!

Its quite simple, "i could care less" implies that you care about it but there are things which you care less about. For example "I could care less about money but i cannot care less about family". Its like a heirachichal system, family, clothing for warmth, money
