Colonopenbracket / Depeche Choad / Casper Heyzeus / Romarzs @ The Tunnels Friday 20th July 18

Recommended Posts

Ice Cream For Crow Records is a small tape label based in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Join us on Friday 20th July at The Tunnels as we welcome some very special guests returning to the stage after a long absence!

~ colonopenbracket (Aberdeen/Glasgow) ~
The brainchild of Marty Milne, the ‘band’ formed in late 2005 in Aberdeen, around Nintendo and Commodore sounds augmented by live drummer Adam Florence (now of Randolph’s Leap) and what Milne describes as a “revolving door of keyboard players”.

Previously i.e. over the past dozen years of the combo’s existence, there have been releases on Must Destroy Records (home to The Darkness and Goldie Looking Chain), a split single ‘Twin Chevron Action Flash’ with Data Panik (AKA Bis), followed by the five track ‘First Blood’ EP.

With Florence working with the likes of Post, Citigazi and Sexual Objects, Milne released two albums: 2009’s ‘Kawaii’ for Japanese-based Intec Recordings, followed by ‘World Wide Web’ two years later – aptly an internet-only release

colonopenbracket’s current plan is to release one new single per month and this year will once more return to the stage as a duo.

~ Depeche Choad (Aberdeen) ~
Girth Rock/Factcore band Depeche Choad - musical influence ranges from Punk to Italio Disco, Pop Rock to Bosnian Folk Music & everything in-between making it difficult to pigeon hole them into one specific genre.
FFO: Butthole Surfers, Why?, Husker Du & Dan Deacon.
DC pride themselves on energetic, fun performances with raw unadultarated passion and an element of crowd participation.

"Depeche Choad are highly entertaining and vastly enjoyable." - Ravechild.co.uk

"They really are all crazy, but somehow absolutely brilliant at the same time." - Song by Toad Records

"This band made a real determined effort to push boundaries and make gig going a pure joy." - Wepluggoodmusic.com

~ Casper Heyzeus (Aberdeen) ~
Listed genres include novelty, comedy, rock, metal, punk, disco, dance, weird and shite.
"Like a bad smell from the 80's! Casper Heyzeus is an unwelcome stain in the music world."

~ Romarzs (Edinburgh) ~
Romarzs are an electronic/funk/pop duo from Edinburgh, Scotland. Influenced by the sounds of the 80's and 90's they combine sunshine vibes and soulful vocals with catchy hooks driven by slick guitar, groovy basslines and rhythms for the dance floor. Debut album, Prisoners of Love, released in November 2017 sets Romarzs up for a busy year as they take their sound to a whole new audience.

I saw colonopenbracket at Download festival in 2006. They were in the same 3rd stage slot on the Saturday that Enter Shikari had on the Friday so there ya go.
