Radio Skool 07: Keb Darge/ Lotek Hi-Fi

Saturday 19 June 2004 - Caf

Tickets 10.00 (6.75 concessions & regulars)

Doors Open: 10.00pm

Show Starts: 10.00pm

Just before we take a small break for summer, Radio Skool presents its 7th instalment. Bringing you a first performance in the city for

Lotek Hi-Fi and a long overdue return for a local (well sort of, he's from Elgin) legend Keb Darge. This show will also feature the regular Radio Skoolers Dee J A'la Fu, Corallo and Isho and will be hosted by the production supreme behind Lotek Hi-Fi, Wayne Lotek.

Lotek Hi-Fi- Brainchild of Wayne "Lotek" Bennett, the ultimate studio nut. He trained and began working at Rollover in London, where he quickly found himself working in sessions by everyone from Leftfield to Peter Andre! He came to the attention of Roots Manuva, who asked him to contribute a couple of tracks to what would become his debut album, "Brand New Second Hand". At this point Mr Lo Tek was ready to step out on his own and began piecing together the band which would become Lotek HiFi. Comprising of himself, Wayne Paul, Earl J & Aurelius and described as the freshest and most innovative groups in the UK, here's your chance to catch a collective on the rise.....

Keb Darge- If you like funk music and you've never heard of Keb well it's time for a real skoolin'. He's one of the worlds leading authorities on Northern Soul and "Deep Funk" music, in fact he even coined the term. He's been on the circuit for over quarter of a century and it would take you even longer to go through his infamous record collection. From his wealth of knowledge on rare funk 45's he's worked with a host of famous collaborators including DJ Shadow, Pete Rock, DJ Spinna, Kenny Dope and more to compile funk compilations for the "bbe" label as well as his own "Deep Funk" label. A deep and downright funky set is guaranteed by the man so get your talc out and your dancing shoes on...
