Rob Karloff
Yes, yes... But are they headlining? Seriously though, good effort Bradley. Out of all the would-be "managers" I've seen thus far involved with Aberdeen bands, you've done the most managing. Booking such a tour is no mean feat, regardless of venue size or importance. Hell, we played a gig in Stirling once, and due to various events, it ended up being in this pub that they couldn't charge on the door at, so they had to go round with buckets and ask for donations for the bands. We got about 9 in small change.
Bradley
Yeah, we have guarantees on this tour which'll keep everything ticking over nicely cashwise.
Rob Karloff
Without being overly sceptical, we've had "guarantees" broken before. Always have a backup plan, because being someplace far away with a band and a load of gear and having no money to get home sux.
Afro Droid
Use contracts, that's what I'll be doing for Radio Lucifer. Makes it tougher to get the gig, but at least you don't get fucked.
Bradley
Yeah, I know it could go to shit. I'm close to being able to cover the 'worst case scenario' from my own pocket though (third student loan!).By the way, there *may* be a slot going at the Dundee Doghouse tommorow if anyone's interested. PM me for details.
Afro Droid
Kudos on the European gigs, shows abroad are a nightmare without having good contacts in the country in question. RL are going to America and Canada next year, our nightmare continues...
Bradley
Best of luck with that.
Rob Karloff
Contracts are only worthwhile if you have the money and time to pursue them legally. And chances are any medium to small sized venue will laugh down the phone at you when you mention the word.
