Guest bluesxman
I have a wee Marshall Valvestate 10 practice amp, switched it on for the first time in an age yesterday, the sound keeps cutting out, fiddling with the volume and gain knobs helps but sometimes it still cuts out and starts feeding back like a bitch. Any ideas what is needed to correct it? Is it destined for le bucket?
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
My first thoughts on this is that the volume and gain pots are dirty and need to be cleaned, but I'm sure someone else will have a more educated opinion than me... Chris
as someone else suggested in this thread I just cleaned the pots. It was exactly the same situation as yours, I hadn't used the practice amp for ages then when I did it kept cutting out. A little switch cleaner in each pot and it was fine after that. Do I just squirt it in the front around the stem or do I need to do some dismantling?
Chris
I bought mine from R&B but I don't think it's a specialist make or anything; I imagine any electrical switch cleaner would do the job. You'll need to pull out the main panel on the amp to get access to the actual pots, this was the hardest part when I cleaned mine as the thing was that old all the screws were stuck. That and I was using an ancient screwdriver that destroyed the screw heads.
