i dont have access to anythign myself, but i did notice maplins had a markerish pen that i think is for doodling pcb's yourself, it was about 15 i think, basically a marker but the ink is conductive

might be worth looking into to see if ti would work at all

thats insane.

i might check that out, maplin have pcb kits but theyr like 40 quid, i just need some chemicals and a lamp, really.

like the bottle of etching liquid and an etching tray? for the grand total of 7 pounds?

yep

there are other ways of doing the etch resistant stuff, i am sure i read somewhere about using marker pens of some sort to draw the traces with, and the chemicals to burn off the rest

not sure if you would need different chemicals or special pens or anything, and press and peel would probably be a lot neater

yep, the guy above was talking about those pens, its the same amount of money.

plus i have the tracks scanned in, i printed them out 200% bigger, went round the tracks with a plack pen, and im going to fill the tracks in with correction fluuid, scan it in, invert the colours and reduce the size by half, hopefully this will give me a black track plan at a decent resolution which i can print off on the press and peel.

i just need to figure out how to get the background out. i guess it doesnt matter if it prints etch resist, as long as the tracks dont cross.

has anyone here got access to a facility for making them?

i should have the template and the boards for etching.

To be honest, your best bet is using veroboard you can get at any respectable electronics firm, maplin, ahem possibly, the stuffs cheap as buggery, plus it's linear tracked with pre-punched holes, alternatively if you want something fabricated, give me a shout, i actually work at Baker Hughes in portlethen, electronic technician is my job title, i'm kinda what you'd call a specialist in that area, piece of piss to me mate, you should see the dash board of my car, electronic shit everywhere.

PM me with your requirements and circuit diagram, nothing's too complicated, the shit inside effects/ amps is very old school

Chris!

stripboard is pretty cool, though you do need to plan in advance to get everythign wired properly

another similar option (which i have forgotten the name of) is exactly the same, but minus the metal strips on one side, so you put the components legs through the holes then wire the legs directly together to make the circuit, simple to do and maplins have big boards for pretty cheap, buy a big board then just cut it down to the size you want

i'm going the press n peel way, that stuffs just for prototype's, really, and although my board is a prototype for me, it's already been under mass production, no need for fine tuning. (unless i feel like it)

i may try a few things with this circuit, i might try removing all the logic switching as all it seems to be is in the place of a 3pdt footswitch, after that, all i can see the extra power being needed for is that logic chip, so i could try converting it to 9v, and battery operated.

once thats done i can try the usual tricks, changing the range of the rez and tone pots, increasing the gain, or making the distortion "fuzzier" or"softer" or "edgier". I could also have a look at the input and output buffers if its sucking any tone/and/or true bypass.

anyone else have any good modding ideas for this circuit?

im going to make it as is first, its supposed to be incredible as it is.
