Guest Zeenat Aman
http://www.whereseric.com/clapton/news/2004/12/cream_reunion_its_official.htmCREAM REUNION: IT'S OFFICIAL!After weeks of speculation it was announced on 17 December by Eric Clapton that legendary 60s supergroup Cream will reunite for 4 shows at London's Royal Albert Hall. The venue was the scene of the trio's last appearance in 1968.Concert appearances have been scheduled for May 2005. Information regarding ticket sales has not yet been made public. These are the only Cream concerts scheduled. Details will be posted here as they become available.Eric Clapton made the announcement on BBC Radio 2's Johnnie Walker show. The shows will be recorded. Eric also said that tickets will go on sale soon. After leaving John Mayalls Bluesbreakers in 1966, Eric accepted drummer Ginger Baker's offer to start a new band. Eric suggested bassist Jack Bruce. During its two-year life span, Cream - as in "cream of the crop" - released four albums: Fresh Cream (1966), Disraeli Gears (1967), Wheels of Fire (1968), and Goodbye (1968). The band's performances were not a series of three-minute hit song recreations but featured ground-breaking long-form improvisation around album cuts. The band's final two performances on 26 November 1968 at London's Royal Albert Hall were filmed. Farewell Cream has been released on DVD demonstrating the band's continuing popularity over the years. In the decades since the band broke up in late 1968, countless musicians have pointed to the power trio as an important influence on their own playing and style and the hard rock genre.Cream reunited once before in January 1993 when they performed three songs at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. .............................................................................................................................Ginger Baker still looks like he's knocking on deaths door(been like that since 1964 mind you), Jack Bruce recently had cancer/a liver transplant and Claptons 60 this year, yikes! Guest Zeenat Aman
Important Notice from Management aboutthe Sale of CREAM Reunion Tickets:Cream, who have just announced four reunion concerts at The Royal Albert Hall in May, have encountered similar problems with internet touts recently experienced by U2. Creams promoters 3A have made the following statement:It is our belief that we have made all possible efforts to make tickets available to the public but at the same time to make it as difficult as possible for touts to get hold of ticketsThe measures the promoters took included restricting sales to a maximum of four tickets per person (the industry norm is 6) and refusing all group bookings.Other measures included: * Restricting tickets sales to two authorised outlets: The Royal Albert Hall and Bookings Direct on 0870 143 2208 or online at www.bookingsdirect.com Restricting sales to phone and internet only, thereby enabling cross referencing procedures to weed out multiple bookings using the same address or credit card. Monitoring all tickets being offered for sale on Ebay and similar sites and cancelling bookings where tickets are being offered for sale in this way. * The promoters believe and have observed that the majority of tickets on sale at exploitative prices have been purchased not by touts but by members of the public with a view to using one pair of tickets and selling the other pair on.It is our belief that the real culprits in this situation are internet sites who permit daily auctions with seemingly no checks on whether or not the sellers are authorised to sell them or even whether they have the tickets in the first place. For example; not one ticket has yet been printed for any of the Cream shows and will not be until the checks mentioned above have been made, yet today there are 66 separate Cream ticket offers on EBay.
