  1. Just wondering if anyone has experience with  compressor/sustainer pedals to give a jangly guitar sound.. I know telecasters , rickenbackers, 12 strings , vox, fender amps etc help get the sound but can anyone give me their views on whats out there to create this pedal wise. In other words what are the decent sustainer/compressors out there?

    Cheers

  2. Had a Taylor 214 and was unimpressed although each guitar is different so I wouldnt rule out another taylor at some point.. I have never owned an acoustic like my old takamine En 40.. Japanese acoustic and I owned it for over a decade. I would have to dig deep in my pockets to match its sound and that wont happen soon lol

  3. From my own experience it depends how you want to spend your evening.. If you are a support band you can start and finish earlier and make a night of it after you play.. The later you are on stage the less you can get drunk (unless you can handle your drink and play well lol).

If its your own gig choose a band or a couple of bands similar to your own music. Im not sure of eclectic gigs from the point of view of putting on your own show as the crowd may disperse before you even get on stage, particularly if the support band is a different genre from your own band.

Quite often in gigs I have played in there is no hierarchy.. All bands are usually amateur bands and are on a level playing field.

  4. High end of a smaller brand name.. Some of the higher end tanglewoods are better than low end martins etc. Usually you get all solid wood guitars that way. Having said that I love yamahas , well made guitars. Best acoustic I had though was a japanese takamine en 40 which I owned for 13 years. Shoulda kept it!!
