This went up at the weekend in case you missed it
Of course you didn't though, you're all checking the site constantly aren't you?
-
Cool, I'll drop off a couple of our posters this week then.
Nice one

What were the Sonic Youth 7" singles?
I'l come clean and say that I don't actually have mine yet, getting them sent to me from doon south (I fucking hope so anyway)
One split with Beck and one with Jay Reatard apparently
Did go into One Up early afternoon though and they didn't have much of the special stuff left as far as I could see, only 500 copies of the Sonic Youth ones made it to the UK.
Which makes me wonder if my 'mate' will 'lose them in the post' somehow
-
One-Up was noted as one of the Top 5 record stores in the UK in NME this week!
Yeah, saw that little piece about them in their window, nice to see them getting some credit
Even if it is the NME...

Although apart from that, i am not surprised that Aberdeen wasn't mentioned.
They just needed to look on here to see that, for the most part, we offer nothing of cultural relevance.
Anyone disagree?
I'll take you up on this.
Agree and disagree, the only places that are 'culturally relevant' are those which strike out on their own.
Aberdeen could be like that. Easily.
It's the constant, pointless comparisons to Edinburgh/Glasgow that prevent it from happening.
Forget about them. Do something different. There's.shitloads of talent here, it just needs a bit of a push in my opinion...
-
Got the Sonic Youth ones too...
Thought One Up could have done a wee bit more to be honest, maybe some in-store gigs or a hook-up with Drummonds or something. Make it more of an event.
No disrespect to them meant whatsoever as I don't know the ins and outs
Maybe next time...

not trying to be picky but the hyper link still says "Guest DJ, ex-Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble joins four live bands at the latest..."
You're right, I don't have access to that bit at the mo and the guy who does isn't online just now.
Feel free to pick away by the way, helps us make the site better *awaits deluge of complaints*
I see what happened now though, ex-Pavements and ex-Idlewilds got mixed up somewhere along the line
Sorry for the thread hijack, so back on topic, yeah everyone go to
-
Ex-Idlewild frontman?
My bad, sorry, that's been up there for a week as well!
Don't know how that got through
Fixed now (better late than never!)
Cheers

Tremendous post - everything I needed to find in one place.
I thank you.

If I can help and get involved, then I would be delighted to.
Cool, I'll be in touch soon
For anyone else looking in, I'll post info on here when we're looking for people to get involved

Oh shit, maybe Jim did mean that. In that case, I come across as an even bigger twat than I normally do. Though what I said still stands. It just needn't be applied to the context of what Jim said, ha.
And you're doing a fine job with The Kiosque. Been noticing a few posters scattered about advertising it. Ever considered a hard copy version of it to distribute, much like The Skinny and other publications of it's ilk?
Cheers
A hard copy is a possibility in the future sure, still think it would be a companion to the site though as the "USP" of it if you like are the up-to-date listings.
You never know though, we'll probably be in touch with peeps like your good self fairly soon for some input on the site anyway.
-
Maybe I got it wrong too then!
I thought Jim was talking about a lack of things happening on the media front in Aberdeen.
There's plenty stuff going on creatively though, that's for sure.
I should know, I have to type the bastarding stuff out!
In fact, everyone stop doing stuff, give my fingers a rest.
-
Then let the revolution begin...
I like the Skinny but don't pick it up thinking I'm going to read about Aberdeen, unfortunately. Maybe we need more exciting and interesting things happening up hereo_O
Exactly,
There's so much going on in Glasgow/Edinburgh that Aberdeen/Dundee etc were always going to be wedged in there as a bit of an afterthought.
As for doing stuff up here, we're going to give it a go, look for The Kiosque to become a bit more interactive and inclusive soon.
Part one was getting the thing up there and running pretty well, I think we've almost achieved that now and we're nearly ready to try and move it forward a bit.
Christ, I sound like some middle manager or something
But you get my gist, and any opportunities for folk to get involved will be posted on here
-
I'm being semi-flippant, dude.
But yeah, The Skinny seem reluctant to get properly involved with what's going on in Aberdeen, which is a pity.
Partly true, their commitment to Aberdeen isn't as strong as they suggested it would be when it launched up here.
Unfortunately, they're looking to expand into NE England and further south which will probably dilute it even further.
Not bitterness on my part (as some would see us as being in competition with them I suppose) but just what I've heard (from a good source).
For the record I think it's a very good mag
-
You've all been using The Kiosque, Arts, Music, Film, Aberdeen right?

Very diplomatic!
Had a ball though, not sure if everyone I was talking at (most emphatically AT, not to) would agree...
