    This was a really nice little event. Grace Maxwell was brilliant, very engaging and some of the passages she read from the book really brought a lump to the throat. They spent a long time talking to people and signing books afterwards, it was great to see Edwyn on such fine form. My only regret was getting a little bit starstruck and tonguetied when I met them, but what does a person such as myself say unto Edwyn Collins? Looking forward to the gig at the Lemon Tree on October 18th now...

    Agreed, Grace was fantastic and the a cappella stuff from Edwyn was the icing on the cake, and really powerful to boot.

    I gabbled some shite to them afterwards too (which will come as no surprise to anyone that's met me). The time they spent with people was unbelievable and they seemed genuinely interested in meeting folk...

    Do Waterstones normally charge entry fees to see book signings and so on? Or is this a little bit of opportunism?

    Yeah I was wondering about this too and had a dig around their site and it appears they do for readings from 'bigger' names...

    You do get a 'complimentary refreshment' from Costa though which, going by their prices, means you'll probably end up technically making a profit :laughing:

    What kind of an idiot goes out to review a restauarant, and doesn't book it in advance?

    It's a goldmine the EE reviews archive...

    Here's the King Rib one:

    Mikado Fish and Chips: George Street, Aberdeen - Evening Express

    So he's staggered out the boozer with 7 in his pocket, bought two suppers, eaten one on the way up the road and the next day decided 'fuck it, that'll do for the paper'

    People who use the word "moreish", especially when writing the "Pub Spy" column in the Evening Express.

    In fact, the whole 'restaurant review' section in the EE deserves a place on this thread.

    The chips were excellent, with a crispy coating surrounding the potato filling.

    We left satisfied and the bill came to a very reasonable 13.79"

    PS I appreciate the people sticking up for AGP. I feel we do a lot of hard work for our shows which has been reflected in turnouts. We are however not perfect and will continue to try to improve!

    Not good enough Ross, you should really be standing outside Markies with a megaphone so people can find out what's going on.

    Like the kind of people who ask me "can you just email me when a band you think I'll like is playing so I don't have to look through your website" Then list the kind of music they like.

    Ooof, I imagine I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to find out stage times for every gig, the myspace links will probably happen soon though.

    Of course it's a lot easier if promoters send us the info in the first place, obviously (some do, some don't at the moment although it seems to be getting better, so cheers to those who do, and a big booo to those who don't)
