  1. I was hoping it would help me play like him:love: Sadly not the case?( Like I said it is a great snare. The locking lugs helps it stay in tune and the internal dampner is a bonus. I was told it is difficult to get the sound right and I found that out when I changed the top head to a double ply to get a fatter sound. It completely changed the drum. So if you get one keep with similar heads in comes with.
  2. Wow!!! Is it the quality tin foil or Tesco own brand.
  3. I like it. I have had the kit 26 years now and it still sounds great. The new Evans G1/G2 heads rejuvinated it recently. The Ian Paice snare I got from Rhythm Base in Glasgow. Great shop with very helpful and knowledgable staff. Went looking for a maple snare told them the sound I was after (fat rock sound) and they advised the Ian Paice. Love at first strike and a good price too.

  7. We are a band doing 70's and 80's rock covers (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Deep Purple, Free, Aerosmith etc). We have been together for a couple of months and are working on some songs with a view to adding more to the list. The intent is to get a decent set list together and do some gigs. The band at the moment consists of a singer, guitarist and drummer. We really need a bass player to anchor the band and fill out the sound. We are serious, but also want the band to be fun to play in. Done the whole ego thing years ago and don't want to go back there. We are currently rehearsing once a week, but will step this up when we get a full line up. If you fancy playing some good old rock covers PM me. Rick
  8. Still looking for a Bass Player Bumped as we are still looking for a Bass Players
  9. Phil Got anything else you want to sell. Let me know and I would be happy to start a thread for you!!!!!! Anyway as everyone knows you can't beat the unique sound of a Zildjian compared to the mass produced Paiste.
  10. Zapatista I still have the cymbal if you are still interested.
  11. Recently formed outfit (guitarist, vocalist and drummer) currently in need of a bass guitarist to join us doing covers of some good old classic / heavy rock songs.... To-date we've been working on a preliminary set list to get it together as a band, which has been working out pretty well. Now we need a bass guitarist to get us properly off the ground! Here are some covers we have been working on - but it's by no means fixed....... Free - Wishing Well Whitesnake - Fool For Your Lovin Thin Lizzy - Don't Believe a Word Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever Montrose - I Got The Fire Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water ZZ Top - Gimme All your Lovin Nothing too serious. The whole has to fun and enjoyable, but we do hope to gig in the future. Fancy giving it a go?
  12. Ok shall I bring along with the snare on Friday?
  13. Still for sale Zildjian 20" Ping ride Zildjian 20" Ping ride still looking for a new home.
  14. Tank - Here you go. This is the only photo I have with me (offshore at the moment). I have a better one at home and can post that tomorrow when I get back. I brought the drum in 1989, but stopped playing in '96 and the snare has only been used a couple of times since then. Its in excellent condition.
  15. Waiting until the end of the month is not a problem. I have a picture of the snare as set up with my kit that I could post, if I could figure how to do it. Any ideas?
  16. Tama Imperial Star snare drum in excellent condition. 14" x 5 1/2" Birch shell, black lacquer finish, chrome hardware. Lovely drum, only selling it as I now use a metal snare. 100 ono.
  17. That's the one. Memory is not what it was.
  18. I saw them at the Kilburn Forum in London supporting Robert Plant in '88. What a great night that was. I agree with the others Francis Dunnery is an excellent guitar player and the rest of the band were no slouches either. They have reformed recently without Frances. I haven't heard their new album, but I will have to check them out again.
  19. I have a Zildjian 'A' 20" Ride cymbal (made around 1982, that's when I purchased it new). It's in perfect condition apart from the logo's that are a bit faded due to the occasional polish over the intervening years. 80 Anyone interested?
  20. Custom Hearing Protection These ones are expensive, but are top quality. There is a review on Music Radar. ACS ER Custom Hearing Protectors | Drum reviews | musicradar.com
  21. Thanks guys. I have checked them out and think I will have to take a trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
  22. Looking for some more help. As I haven't brought any new drums for long time, can anyone recommend a good shop to go to and try out snare drums? Doesn't have to be local.
