  2. To ca_gere - you rock!

We are a bit miffed with the billing, but Copy Haho were nice enough to invite us to play so we're not too miffed. As long as the ol chalk board on the night doesn't list us as 'Kuda' then all is good. Incidentally Kuda has changed his stage name - more on that later.

Early plug - we've got copies of our five-track EP to shift!

Work is a drag today as I just can't wait for tonight - going to be mad good.

  4. I really wanna see New York Dolls. Will I be able to pay at the door? I'm not too familiar with The Lemon Tree.

Seconding Mr Milne, tickets are fair flying out the door. Ordinarily it isn't a problem to buy your tickets on the night, but for gigs like this one you need to snap them up in advance.

You can get them at our box office at HMT and the Music Hall, over the phone on 01224 641122 or online here.

  5. Connie Lush & Blues Shouter

    The Lemon Tree Lounge

Connie Lush is widely recognised as one of the finest blues singers that the United Kingdom has ever produced.

That indisputable fact was acknowledged when she was voted Best UK Female Vocalist by readers of Blues In Britain for 5 separate years, earning a richly deserved place in the Gallery of the Greats.

She is also increasingly recognised on the continent, particularly in France, where she was honoured in the French Blues Trophies awards as European Singer of the Year for 2002. There are no separate awards for male & female singers in the European category, so Connie defeated all challengers.

  6. Orkestra del Sol

    Fri 27 August, doors 7.30pm

    The Lemon Tree Lounge

Flamboyant, brassy and irresistibly euphoric - the riotous live shows of Edinburghs Orkestra del Sol are fast gaining them notoriety as Scotlands answer to the celebratory wedding bands of Eastern Europe. Blending the best of brass with the swinging sounds of New Orleans, the rolling rhythms of the Middle East or the bouncing beats of UK ska, they pack a punch and make mincemeat of musical categories. The band site influences including Balkan big names like Boban Markovic Orkestar, Mahala Rai Banda and Fanfare Ciocarlia, but also pay homage to Calypso and Mento, Brazilian Forro and Columbian Porro, plus The Specials, Tom Ze, Duke Ellington, Stephane Grapelli and Tom Waits.

  8. Peter Gregson

    Thu 19 August, doors 7pm

    10/8 + bf; under 26s 5 +bf

    The Lemon Tree Lounge

Thought we'd try something a wee bit different down at The Lemon Tree.

23 year old cellist Peter Gregson is a pioneer of contemporary music and ambassador of a new generation of musicians for whom the use of new technologies is increasingly a matter of course.

Ever had an electric sensor cello suit on? Or performed at a concert with a live comment feed displayed on the wall? Or composed musical Twitter poems? Cellist Peter Gregson has done all of it of his own accord and is being acclaimed for it not only by classical sector, but also by the media and technology world. His pioneering work in refreshing the classical genre earned him the prestigious Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland award for music in November 2008 as well as membership to the Courvoisier Future 500. In January 2010 Peter was selected Creative in Residence (Music) by the Hospital Club London for 2010/2011.

  9. Blueflint

    Fri 13 August, doors 7.30pm

    10/8 + bf

    The Lemon Tree Lounge

Steeped in Americana and based around the banjo duo of Deborah Arnott and Clare-Louise Neilson, Blueflint subtly intertwines the three-finger picking and clawhammer styles of banjo traditions to accompany striking vocals and harmonies on a set of original songs. This unique sound is enhanced by a talented and versatile line up of musicians playing fiddle, double bass and drums, forming an atmospheric, rich and engrossing performance.
