  1. I recently put my iTunes on random play the other day, and some System Of A Down came on from their first album and noticed it was from 1999, and thought about what I was listening around that time. So put your pride away and share some of your shame(or not shameful) music from about 10 years ago!

Doesn't have to be exactly 10 years like!!

    Mine are

    Slipknot

    Korn

    Limp Bizkit

    System Of A Down

    To name a few!

i was listening to this then, and still do now!

  2. I completely agree, we pulled out of the second heat after realising that the competition had absolutely no desire to display talent but instead decided to reward bands for their willingness to obtain votes which in turn meant a wad of cash for the company.

The Locals from Aberdeen won the entire competition last year, which is quite obviously a fantastic achievement for which they deserve the merit and are now playing an entire UK tour on the back of it (which I believe was a prize??), but you can't help but think that if they didn't take a bus load of people to Liverpool (at least 100 people) that the competition result may well have been different......

  3. I heard that Kashmir Red played Tiger Tiger and they alone pulled in something like 400-500 people.

Jesus Christ I doubt my band even know that many people!

We personally decided to take up on this offer because bands on our level don't often get the chance to play at venues such as this, and providing Steve and the other acts get the correct backing I'm sure this could potentially be a huge success.

  4. As far as I know they are technically unsigned so guess that qualifies them although it should really be those that are actually breaking through for the 1st time, not those that failed and need to breakthrough again.

I always presumed they were signed to rough trade, given the two albums which they have now released on that label

  5. Hey folks, Daryl here....incase you don't me or my band I play guitar in Marionettes who have been in and around the Aberdeen music circuit for a couple of years now.

Just to let a few folks know what we've doing recently, here goes:

Just played our last gig with Andrew (surfa_rosa) a couple of weeks back at the Lemon Tree and went down a storm, could possibly have been the perfect send off and he shall be sorely missed.

We are re-grouping and have recently recorded a tune that you all shall hopefully be able to indulge in soon, as we have a new bass player and are now incorporating a synthesiser into our full line-up.

Our "comeback gig" of sorts shall be at the beach ballroom on the 22nd August, so would be good to see a few of you there for a good time!

We intended to do a week-long tour in September which we had booked but a lack of funds and incomprehendable circumstances proved to get in the way of this so we're merely venturing away for the weekend instead.

So for anybody who cares........thank you!

May this musical venture of ours be long lasting and phenomenal!

PS........Local Acts You Should ALLLLLL Make A Point Of Seeing:

Debutant (Possibly the best soloist about just now)

The Little Kicks (At least buy their album, some seriously good tunes on there)

CCJ (Relocated here from Edinburgh, very very promising)

Cast of the Capital (Some of the best music I've heard come out od this city)

    Anyways,

    CIAO!:gringo:

  6. He's already left them hasn't he?

Aye, but I suppose anybody who gets a team that awful into the premier league with a goal deserves it.

I've heard he's joining the Darlington backroom staff and he even applied for the Dons manager job too

  7. Wizard's second stage will be taken over by dance club Snafu for both the Friday and Saturday night of the festival.

Confirmed to headline the stage on Friday are The Japanese Popstars, with Streetlife DJs, topping the bill on Saturday, plus Harri, Snafu DJs including Giles Walker, DJ Lunik and Funky Transport, The Cuban Brothers (DJ Set), Mr Green, and Greg Gibb.

    Cheers Ben

this is ace!! the japanese popstars are fucking mental i saw them at rockness

any news of local act confirmations?
