Oh god, so embarrassing when people say stuff like that. "This discussion is difficult for me!!!!!"

Only memorable person or colour I can remember from trailers last year was thon black stormtrooper. And that's only cause of fannies complaining about him being black. From what I've heard (from whites, but liberal whites) white folks just gave better performances. At the end of the day it doesn't matter cause even if a black guy was nominated Leo d'caprio isn't black so not likely you'd have black winners this year anyway.

It does matter. The lack of nominations is the crucial point. Whether POC win or not, it's ridiculous to suggest that no POC actors were up to the academy standard.

Food for thought: Sylvester Stallone gets a nod for his role in Creed, a critically-acclaimed film led by a black actor. The white screenwriter of Straight Outta Compton, a film in which most of the cast are POC, gets a nod. It's not about casting races against each other, it's just that the lack of inclusion for ethnic minority actors at awards season is absolutely shocking.

Your 'liberal' white mates who've said "well maybe the white actors are just better" can't have seen the number of films considered for individual nominations by the Academy. And if they're saying stuff like that, they just aren't that liberal.

Does anyone think that Liverpool will play him?

I genuinely think they should do. Mignolet has proved enough times (for me) that he's not a top-class goalkeeper, and while Ward isn't there yet, I do think he has potential to be excellent. He's a pure shot-stopper, which is such an incongruous trait nowadays, strangely.

Garth Crooks is merely misunderstood. A visionary ahead of his time. Possibly sent from the future, back through time to help shape football to come.

His BBC Team of the Week is quite something, on a regular basis.

Your first thought will be WTF?! understandably. But just look at it. It is an arrow, and it is pointing towards the goal. Genius.

    Then there's this.

Kevin De Bruyne, £50m of attacking talent as the defensive midfielder? Wot u on, Garth? In the year 2185, there are no defensive midfielders. You play your best attacking players infront of the defence, because your defence are also attackers. The future is now.

    More subtly:

He recently dialed it back 100 years, when defensive midfielders still had a place. A mere glimpse of the future, with that 4 man wall of attacking midfielders. 2085 Total football.

Alexis Sanchez as a LWB is uh... Bold

    WOMPS

From the ashes of Algernon Doll, Glasgow's WOMPS are born. A scuzzy form of melodic pop/garage rock, the band have already worked with recording legend Steve Albini (Pixies, Nirvana, Slint) and have receieved affection and airplay from Consequence of Sound, The Guardian, NME Online, The Skinny, Clash Magazine, Impose Magazine, Artrocker, The Herald and BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 among others, while live they've played with Bully and Kurt Vile.

    WENDELL BORTON

New-ish Aberdeen-based 4-piece Wendell Borton have just finished recording their brand of fuzz-laden hooky pop with Chris McCrory (of Catholic Action and Casual Sex), off the back of a fruitful year contributing to compilations by Song, By Toad and Gold Flake Paint playing around Scotland with the likes of Poor Things, Pinact, Spinning Coin and The Van Ts. A formidably handsome band, 2016 will see the release of their as-yet-untitled debut record.

My favourite so far was the (now deleted) Facebook post by a band playing there next week calling them arseholes.

People in bands love biting that hand that feeds.....

    Who was that?!

  7. Gotta say it's been great fun seeing that Brewdog (whose marketing style I am profoundly not a fan of) have provided the mid-size venue Aberdeen has needed for ages, and people have still moaned about it, for whatever reason.

*ex-costa employee alert* asking for extra hot is pointless, as staff are only allowed to heat it to a certain temperature.  They'll say "yeah, no problem" to appease you, but it's the same temperature as all the other drinks (unless someone asks for it to be not as hot).

Oh god, I used to work at a costa as well. So many of the customers are just full of shit.
