  2. AGP presents THURSDAY 23 JULY @ TUNNELS BE A FAMILIAR Just as their name asks, so did the colorful concoction Be A Familiar spring into existence through familiarity. The vibrancy that you will hear in the sound of their music, stems from the immediate closeness found in a group of seven musicians stirred together, in eagerness, to tell their individual tales. Founding members Chris Pashley and Callum Morrison set out with a clear vision of what Be A Familiar would gently grow into: a band with a very powerful yet modest self-awareness, which has generated an exuberance in their music, [The Skinny] that pulls in an eclectic fan base. The complete line up was formed over time and it is the diversity of each Familiar which allows for their enriched depth of sound and overwhelming stage presence. The band were signed to a two single deal with Broken Friend Records in early 2008 before they had ever performed live and after their first performance Be A Familiar relentlessly gained momentum. By their third show and with wide-eyed hope they sprung through the T-Break heat with their surprisingly tight and energetic sound [skinny] winning a place on the T-Break stage at T in the Park 2008. Since then they have continuously demolished the boundaries set for a seven-piece orchestral rock/pop band in its tender youth. The summer of 2008 saw the band play Rockness, T in the Park and Go North as well as touring Scotland, London and Ireland. Be A Familiar have played persistently, including a live performance on BBC Radio 1 with Vic Galloway, who claimed that the band were ones to watch out for in 2009! Not only was their first single Pain in the Heart received as a future classic! (Jim Gellatly) but their second split single with German band Green Apple Sea sent them to Germany where the reception and high demand was astounding. Summer 2009 sees the band recording the beginnings of their mini-album with Tony Doogan and the release of their third single Youd Make a Great Ghost, (a split single with Glenrothes band Tango in the Attic). Be A Familiars live shows are energetic, passionate performances which will leave audience haunted by authentic Scottish tones, touched by the sincerity of the lyrics and their minds stamped with an understated cacophony of goodness (Dicelines) which the bands ever?present enthusiasm and playful demeanor delivers. 3. AGP presents THURSDAY 9 JULY @ TUNNELS THE ANSWERING MACHINE Influenced by their hereos The Strokes, The Radio Dept and the awesome Shout Out Louds, Manchesters The Answering Machine have been recieving much critical acclaim for what seems like ages now, but despite this the young band decided to wait until they were ready to finally unleash their melodic and joyous pop music. Vocals are often raw and heartbreaking whilst the guitars jangle and basslines bounce along to make this band truly irresistable. the answering machine. on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Support comes from Redfoot The Fence and more tbc soon Tickets 5 from One Up, Welcome to TicketWeb! and this show is part of our 2 for 1 mix n match at the myspace. 4. AGP is delighted to announce SUNDAY 26TH JULY @ TUNNELS GLINT Glint was conceived by Jase Blankfort (NYC) and Mateus Tebaldi (Brazil) in New York City and quickly deemed an "irresistible live act in the electronic art rock scene" by Billboard Magazine. This acclaim was given when the project was in its early stages, as a duo consisting of Blankfort and drummer Tebaldi. Shortly after the release of Sound in Silence, by chance, Jase and Mateus met Alon Leventon (Tel Aviv), filling the role of keyboards and synthesizers, and bassist Dave Johnsen (Brooklyn). The quartets first show took place in Central Park in Spring of 2008, followed by an immediate rise to New Yorks prominent stages, and more recently, international demand. Operating independently through Rely Records, the label co-founded by Glint, the band first found the ears of the music media through Sound in Silence in 2008. Since meeting, Blankfort and Leventon have become musical conspirators and an innovative production duo. In 2009, now a complete organism, Glint is breaking new ground in the studio and stage. You really have to experience the epic proportions of Glint in sound and sight. ATLAS SKYE Atlas Skye make a welsome return after their headline show saw close to 150 people attend in May. Previously plying their trade in Drive By Argument, they have perfected their direction and whilst still being largely synth led, the five piece now have a new momentum. 9. deary dear, im nopt sure AGP can condone this, especially as I know that you'll only be using the ID to prove that they arent old enough rather than ARE old enough. Dirty Dog!
  10. Indeed I would admit that the site is mundane but that is only because I havent been sent the proper password to edit things properly yet, perhaps meaning I shouldnt have asked for peoples opinions until I had finished. Ah well, not to worry! Will all be done in a week or so I think. On the Hot Puppies note the last I heard one of them was having a baby and they werent doing dates. I think Becky and mmm, the other females name escapes me, have started another project together too. I may go check that out. Will have a cheeky ask and see whats happening though. I too think they are pretty damn good! And it was AGPs first ever gig so would be so emotional
  11. Really enjoyed seeing Cryoverbillionaires tonight at Drummonds. You should definitely head down to this one early to catch them. 12. Some Wave Machines press... "With more talent than cash, Wave Machines make music on knackered keyboards and a start-up drum kit. With tunes in abundance their lo-fi art disco is a treat" - BBC Music "will definitely brighten up a festival field or two" - BBC Music "This could be the love child of Hot Chip and Hail Social, but its done better" - BigStereo "Art rock disco made on a Cash Converter keyboard and start-up drum kit. Twelve months in a dock road warehouse making and breaking sounds. Creating songs that are personal and universal. Songs of magic and brotherhood. Exposing your weakness and falling in love, suicide and drug abuse and waking up from a decade of mistakes" - last.fm "I used to love wave machines, but like shoplifting and optimism, their appeal fades with age. Wave Machines, the band, have a more enduring charm" NME

  19. AGP are delighted to announce an Aberdeen date as part of 3 Scottish shows we have booked for Welsh band THE MUSCLE CLUB. For info if you aint from here they play Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh (30 June) and Bloc, Glasgow (2 July) as well ABERDEEN - WEDNESDAY 1 JULY @ TUNNELS Tickets only 5 from One Up, Welcome to TicketWeb! - 14+ Great line up consists of... THE MUSCLE CLUB take the best bits of indie and manage to assemble gems of pop songs. Having pulled a hearty crowd on their first visit north last March, we look forward to welcoming them back as they promote their imminent mini album "Fragmented Ideas From Young Lungs". Jangly guitars and fantastic melodies aplenty, they have been likened to The Cribs, however its in their own right that this band should be destined for biug things in the next few months. GET IN GET OUT - Indie/Dance/Electro - who knows? but it works bloody well. In the last few months the Aberdeen outfit have mastered their sound and that has seen them support the likes of Unicorn Kid, Atlas Skye and of course bag this tour support as they play all 3 dates having impressed on the bill last time. If yiou havent seen them yet, you've missed out on one of Aberdeens brightest hopes! COME ON GANG based in Edinburgh have been causing a stir for a while now. This year saw them play SXSW, as a highlight. Female fronted three piece magic with hints of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The band have also played Hinterland, The Great Escape and are due to hit Rockness this month too! A must see! CRYOVERBILLIONAIRES complete the bill and what a treat it is! Formed in Edinburgh in December 2005, The Billionaires cite their influences from a diverse range of bands, from Death Cab For Cutie through to At The Drive In, including on the way Every (good) American alternative rock band of the 20th century. Like their broad range of musical influences, their sound is impossible to pin down. From the beautiful sweeping sound of Atlantic Banks to the twisted, distorted, static saturated Of All Evil to the sheer joyous dance-ability of new song Stars Are Decoration, none of their songs sound alike. And ultimately, it's this unpredictability that sets them apart from the copy-paste aesthetics of a lot of music today. SEE YOU THERE!!!!! ITS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!!
  20. Totally man, I dont mean bands shouldnt play the gigs. I know the silly money theyve been offering bands and I sure as hell wouldnt be turning that down.
