  1. AGP is delighted to announce the return of the amazing CATS AND CATS AND CATS + support - Tunnels - Sun 5 Oct - 14+ - 7.30pm Having fallen in love with Irn Bru that we force fed them last time, Cats x 3 return north. It was a joyful occassion last time and we cannot wait for this to come around! Here are some lovely quotes about this truly superb band... "Enigmatic experimentation and sumptuous layering" 8/10 ROCKSOUND "An EP of unmitigated brilliance. Just buy it" NME "The musical culmination of everything good you can say about Mew and Arcade Fire" 9/10 DrownedinSound "A band clearly forging their own path, regardless of scenes or trends. Intense, melodic, out-there. Praise worthy indeed. Excellent work" 4/5 Playmusic Magazine March 2007 "An album many bands could only dream of making" In it for the money-zine "Sweet, sweet uplifting music" Organ Magazine's Album of the week review "a listen that will burst your capillaries, such is the excitement generated by this five piece" 9/10 Powpowpow.com "sure to be raved as a classic of its kind for years to come" drownedinsound.com "This is music from another dimension, this is music that defies categorisation." The Devil Has The Best Tuna review "This is truly fresh, truly exhilerating, brain-stonking, mind-blowing music" Jack Argles (Head of Music) "High quality, quirky songs with inspired lyrics and unbounded ideas" 83% Spill magazine "These lot are definitely ones to watch" 8/10 drownedinsound.com "Brutally dynamic and beautifully schizophrenic meanderings masquerading as songs" 4.5/5 This is fake DIY.co.uk "Cats and Cats and Cats, not Cats and Cats, or Cats and Cats and Cats and Cats....I quite like this actually!!" Rhythm Magazine "Gorgeous in a ferocious kind of way" Steve Lamacq Radio 1 "A Mew that likes flowers and girls in red dresses and stuff" drownedinsound.com "Best unsigned band of 2005" Rockfood.co.uk "pricks and pricks and pricks" Another story "You could even say they were bordering on Purr-fection" sigh Nue Magazine.co.uk COME SEE FOR YOURSELF!
  2. AGP presents SWIMMING + Support Tunnels - Friday 2 Oct - 7.30pm - 14+ Tickets on sale 15 July @ One Up and Welcome to TicketWeb! ___________ Swimming are: John Sampson: Vocals, Guitar Peter Sampson: Drums, Vocals Andy Wright: Samplers, Vocals Jonathon Spittlehouse: Guitar Blake Pearson: Bass "Washed in sound with a great big brush, Swimming's canvas is wide and handsome, big as the sky, colour dripped from above, layer on layer, like an Aurbach take on Pollock" Artrocker "Take the Pixies' energy, the ambient soundscapes of Boards Of Canada and add a penchant for melody and experimentation and you've got yourself one great band in the making" - Rock Sound "The complex arrangements and carefully interwoven melodies are hypnotic, exciting..." "the progressive nature of each of the five tracks all different in their own way help place this band in a class above other leftfield indie outfits..." Music Week One of the most refreshing acts to have emerged from the UK in 2008, Swimming are rapidly developing a devoted fanbase on the basis of their intense and mesmerizing live shows. Artfully blending the power and and energy of Pixies with the ambient soundscapes of Boards Of Canada, their talent for sonic experimentation never detracts from their innate gift for melody. In 2008, a couple of low-level digital single releases via Brightons Izumi Records garnered plaudits from critics such as Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Dean Jackson (BBC Nottingham) and Glastonburys own Emily Eavis, who personally selected the band to play this years festival. This has been followed by shows with contemporaries such as Chairlift, Pivot and Shearwater. Building on this early critical acclaim, May 2009 saw the release of Swimmings debut album, The Fireflow Trade, on their own Colourschool label. Engineered entirely by the band themselves and produced by frontman John Sampson (whose previous producer credits include the likes of Amusement Parks On Fire), the album is a beautiful synergy of textures and melodies.
  3. AGP presents TIM AND SAMS THE TIM AND SAM BAND WITH TIM AND SAM + Lions.Chase.Tigers + support SATURDAY 26 SEPTEMBER @ TUNNELS - 7.30pm Tickets on sale now from One Up and Welcome to TicketWeb! - only a fiver! 14+ 7.30pm ___________________________ Megan Vaughan, Manchestermusic: "Tim and Sam make music for the entrance foyer of heaven." ManchesterEveningNews: "The Manc oufit make music as snug as a warm winter blanket; all folk-drenched pastoral psychedelia with an extra sprinkling of ethereal wooziness." The Guardian: Recommended new music. "Like listening to Sigur Rs, without the worry of deciphering Hopelandic." Rock Sound: "Carefully crafted instrumental indie that twists and turns with folky wonder." Clash Music: "Wonderfully Gonzales styled Balearic instrumental pop. Curious, longing, elegant, romantic, a Working For A Nuclear Free City sans the techno elements, Join The Dots is an emotive, resonant track that wouldnt feel out of place on the first Caf Del Mar album." Cath Aubergine, Manchestermusic: "Tim and his real friends play lovely indie-flavoured melodic post-rock with gorgeous peals of acoustic guitars, a clarinet and a glockenspiel propped up on an ironing board. This seems, for some reason, quite important - in a genre where it sometimes seems bands are trying to out-pretentious each other they seem warm, organic and very down-to-earth." XFM Manchester: "Ones to watch." Planet Sound: "Blissed out folk in the manner of Tunng." Stephen Fretwell: "You're amazing!" James Yuill: "My favourite folk band." Chris Long, BBC: "Tim and the Sam Bands music speaks for itself. Its luscious, delicious stuff - the sound of dreams siphoned into your speakers." Mark Riley: "Wonderful pastoral music. A refreshing change." Huw Stephens: "Beautiful." Tom Robinson: "Deliciously hypnotic pastoral Steve Reichy instrumentals." Marsha XFM: "Rousing, engaging and rather moving. The sort of band that gently create such a big warm noise, it almost feels odd that you can't see it." Sam Walker, BBC Manchester: "Beautiful. Just divine." ________________
