Kerrang "Youd have to be the most miserable of metal purists or the ultimate elitist trend follower not to allow yourself to simply enjoy this band..." Classic Rock "The true triumph of Electric Eel Shock is that they put on a show that can be equally enjoyed by metals fanatics and its detractors. This is more than just a rock show its a complete entertainment package." Metro Electric Eel Shock are a glorious celebration of Classic Rock, Punk and Metal. AGP presents THE LAUREL COLLECTIVE plus support Thu 7 Oct - 7.30pm - Tunnels Tickets on sale at One Up Records, Belmont St and Welcome to TicketWeb! 5 ____________ Experimental avant-folk-pop sextet (ish most pigeonholes are off limits) The Laurel Collective craft the kind of captivating music that, the first time you hear it, you spend several minutes after its finished trying to work out exactly how it was stitched together so perfectly. With myriad elements at play, the mixture shouldnt work but work it certainly does. Having won the Red Stripe Music Awards recently as well as shows at Blissfields and Lovebox, these guys will definitely be one to watch!
  11. AGP presents A GENUINE FREAKSHOW The Deportees The Tunnels - Sat 9 October - 7.30pm 14+ show ________________ Having blown us away on the past two visits AGF return to promote their long awaited and finally due for release debut album! A Genuine Freakshow are a 7-piece pop-infused post-rock cannonade with mass appeal. Songs born of their broad range of influences from Elbow and Radiohead to Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky are accompanied by lush orchestral arrangements and the sincere falsetto vocals of Timothy Sutcliffe. This gives the music they create a blend of classic pop with unpredictable structures and epic climaxes reminiscent of Arcade Fire, Mew, and Sigur Ros. Based in Reading, the band relentlessly take their eclectic and engaging live show to venues up and down the country, playing over 60 headline shows from Exeter to Aberdeen, Cardiff to Norwich since September 2009 alone. Tracks from their self-released EP 0.008%, and two singles We Are The Undercurrents and Holding Hearts made their way to fans world-wide via hand-made limited edition pressings, and also attracted the attention of local and national radio, earning the band multiple airplays and live/session appearances on BBC Berkshire, Oxford, and Bristol. BBC 6 Music DJ Tom Robinson invited the band to be guests on his Introducing show, and included Holding Hearts in his Best of 2008 broadcast; March 2009 marked the bands BBC Radio 2 debut on Steve Lamacqs show. The band continue to tour the UK tirelessly recently including a Levis Ones To Watch showcase at the London Barfly and showcase appearances at In The City 2009, BBC Introducing 2010 Preview, The Great Escape 2010, Liverpool Sound City 2010 and a string of festival dates for 2010 - Glastonbury, Bestival, Summer Sundae, 2000 Trees and more. A Genuine Freakshow have completed their debut album Oftentimes which is scheduled for release in September 2010, with a deluxe edition pre-order including a host of bonus material available from the bands website from July. "A thrilling Reading-based seven-piece... String section, sheets of Pink Floyd and Sigur Ros fed through the Radiohead filter" Mark Ellen, The Word, January 2010 "A seven-piece experimental post-everything pop bonanza, and as youll hear, A Genuine Freakshoware even better than that. What an absolutely marvellous band" Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music, October 2008 Combining the grandeur of post-rock with lush orchestration, pop sensibility and a rare vocal sincerity, A Genuine Freakshow is an exciting band... Traces of Arcade Fire, Elbow and Radiohead are evident, however, there is far more under the surface. The List, November 2009 "A spellbinding set of heartfelt, spine-tingling beauty...Weaved together to form an awe-inspiring climax that beguiled the bejesus out of everyone in its wake." Ones To Watch, levi.com, September 2009
  12. AGP presents THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE plus support Tunnels - Thursday 14 October - 7.30pm 14+ show Advance tickets 12/15 on the door ________________________________ The Birthday Massacre is from Toronto, Canada. Combining their interests in various musical and artistic styles, the band has successfully accumulated an impressive international fan base, press accolades, and defied categorization with their unique sound and visuals. The band was formed in 1999 and independently produced and recorded their first two albums, Nothing and Nowhere and Violet. Through both of these high-demand releases, as well as their highly acclaimed and beautifully atmospheric website, the band obtained a large and loyal fan base throughout the world. Due to their independent success, in 2005 they were approached by European record label Repo Records (followed shortly by Metropolis Records in North America) and the band began its steady climb to reaching a much wider audience with the 2007 release of the acclaimed and wildly popular Walking With Strangers. In the last few years, the band has been performing internationally, traveling extensively across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and Europe. They have become renowned for their high-energy live performances, drawing large, mixed crowds through their appeal to fans of a surprisingly wide range of genres.
