sorry for ruining your thread kittycat! it's all gone off on a tangent.
Don't worry about it! It's not ruined it, it's been interesting reading everyone's differing opinions, etc.

Have to recommend Scott Hogg, he did some portrait work for me recently, including this award winning photo of my niece.
Now you mention it, that's a very good suggestion! I've had some photos done by Scott before and they were really good. I'll drop him a line. Cheers.
That's an absolutely gorgeous photo!

not at all, more fool people who sneer at those who want to part freely with their money for a product they value and will gain enjoyment from. just because you don't see the value in it doesn't mean others have the same view. the frames are good quality and the pictures often capture a family at their best, having a good time and with good natural smiles. it's a style that's been widely copied by the majority of commercial portrait photographers because it's successful and people will pay for it.
i used to take photos for venture, most fun job i've ever had and i still hear from customers i photographed who absolutely love their pictures and the frames.
anyhoo, glad you've found a photographer. adam's a great photographer and shall do more than a good job for you.
I didn't mean to cause any offence if I have done so. In my opinion, Im not very keen on the photos taken by Venture and I think they are a bit too expensive. However, Im sure there's plenty of people who love the pictures they've had done there. Each to their own.
I'd rather support a local photographer. Thanks, I'm sure he'll do a great job. Just hope the parentals like the idea!
Keep the suggestions coming folks. I'm hoping to have a few options. Cheers!

My fianc is a photographer. If you pm me your email address and details of what you're looking for I can get him to give you an email.
PM sent. Cheers.

because people are willing to pay it.
This is true. More fool them I guess.

Dinna worry, Venture's closed.
Haha, wasn't even going to consider them! Not very impressed with most of their work...no idea how they can justify what they charge.

I'm thinking about booking a session with a photographer to get some family portraits done for my mum's birthday/my dad's father's day.
Anyone got any recommendations? I'm not wanting to pay an extortionate amount. Or any of the photographers on here able to do it?
Cheers.

I know they do a valet service on the first floor of the multi-storey car park at Union Square. I'm not sure if it'll be exactly what you are looking for but I know it does do carpets cleaned, etc. Doesn't look too pricey either.

Also; I'm not a member of the Nash. I presume I can just rock up on the night with my passport and register there and then, aye?
Yeah you can, just need photo ID and you fill in a form with your details. They then take your picture and sort you out with a membership card.

I haven't forgotten about this stuff guys, I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to shift it! I'm moving in the firt week in May so I'll arrange to get it moved by then. prob rent a van for a couple of days to do my moving.
Ok no worries, just give me a shout a few days before so we can get them emptied and shifted, ready for collection.

Congrats!

Tuesday i would say. I'm sure the Royal Mail shut down for Easter.
Yeah, the posties were delivering today but they are off on Monday. The postie that delivers to my work let me know this morning.

Ok good stuff. Just drop me a PM and we can get it organised.

We have two double wardrobes available. They are in good condition and very spacious. 50 for both?

Yeah, these days you have to watch when doing electrical work because if you get someone that isn't qualified/certified to do it, you can actually make your home insurance void. Not a well known fact but I was reading the small print and discovered this.
Yeah, he's a really nice bloke and he tidies up after himself! Which is always a bonus.
-
Ah right ok. Yeah, the secretary normally answers and then she lets him know and he'll give you a call as soon as he can. Let me know how you get on.
-
No problem.
We were about 60 for getting three sockets turned into double sockets, he supplied all the bits. So he's not too pricey. My mum used him as well and said he was excellent and gave her the cheapest quote.

We recently used K.F.Watson Electrical. We got the guy that owns the company, think it's quite a small company anyways. He was really good and not expensive compared to a lot of the others there are out there. When we used him, we only had to wait a day or two for him to be able to come round and do the job.
The number for him is 01224 566450.

I checked my door handle 5 fucking times this morning just to confirm it was locked before I left for work. And just before I got to my car I decided I'd better go back just to make sure.
OCD to the max.
Haha I do that too. Also, I have to check my straighteners are turned off like 4 or 5 times before I can leave the room.

Aww man, that's horrible. I hope you get your stuff back! Here's hoping they find the knobs that did it. I really feel for you.

If you like Indian food there's an ace Indian Restaurant called Mother India Cafe. It does tapas but of Indian food. It's pretty cheap and the food is so good.
Here's the link for it: Mother Indias Cafe, Indian Restaurants Edinburgh, Best Indian Tapas Restaurant

People at work who never tidy the fridge or put away their dishes.
This does my head in too. The minky bastards at my work are incapable of putting away their dishes and always leave food to go rotten in the fridge. Its rank. Most of them can't even wash cutlery and plates properly. You take them out of the cupboard and they are still covered in someone else's lunch. Yuck!
-
I still don't think you would, over a slight bit of inconvenience. Get a grip.
I guess we'll never know now will we....
-
Nah, you wouldn't.
Believe me, I would have if it wouldn't result in me going to jail.
