  1. Anyone seen this "rockumentary" about Brian Jones of Rolling Stones fame? I've never really got into the Stones so this isn't an outraged fan speaking, but this film was utter bollocks. Acting of Neighbours standards (that's not good folks), terrible rock n roll cliche'd dialogue and horribly messy structure, flitting here and there in time and place. The nudity was overdone which was it's only saving grace! One of the worse music based films I've ever seen (The film of the Def Leppard story blows it out the water!). Avoid at all costs.

  2. of course it is' date=' they arent that bad a band, the name just grates on me more than any other band name in the world[/quote']

    I think it's kinda kooky!

Saw them supporting someone at Moshulu earlier this year (Subways I think?). Totally passed me by. Not a bad pop song they've got in the charts......

  3. Are the seeger sessions any good?

If you like good fun, uplifting folk music! It's all covers of traditional folk songs. Although their content is mostly Springsteenesque "the people's struggle/the flipside of the American dream/ people's miserable lives etc etc etc" it's done in a pretty uplifting singalong way that will get into your head and you'll be humming the same melody for daaaaays!

It gives me a cheesy grin when I'm in the mood for it and grates when I'm not. Free DVD with it of the recording/jamming sessions.

Worth a buy if you're into Bruce or folk.

  4. Optimism returns!

We're on the road with Walter's army, we're going to AustroSwitzerland (?).

I am genuinely excited about our prospects (not of actually winning anything, but hopefully of having a national team that play good football and are something to be proud of). Fair enough that this is a friendly tournament with experimental squads but some of those goals were superb. I see Dallen Frethcha has been getting 9/10 in most match reports, great ball for Boyd's 1st.

Hopefully won't be eating my words this time tomorrow.......

  5. Yeah, they were great. I saw them at the Tunnels a few months ago and thought they kicked ass so I was really looking forward to them. They didn't disappoint. Really energetic performance and solid songs.

    And they're birds too!

As for the rest of Go North, I only saw Right Hand Left other than the Hedrons. Equally as impressive but nowhere near as good to look at........

  6. City of God is one of the best films I've ever seen. Totally engaging. Goodbye Lenin is a good story too.

Can't add anything other than Taxi 1 & 2 if you want a light hearted French caper with the hottest actress ever (Marion Cottilard)

  7. Agree with most of it MatthEw, maybe a slight red tinted biase! I'd go.....

    GK: Gordon, Marshall, Langfield!!

Defenders: Anderson, Pressley, Webster, Weir, Hammell (or that boy Smith for rangers?), McManus, G Caldwell (Hart would pull his hammy before the 1st game!)

Midfielders: Hartley, Severin, J Smith, Burke, Quasie, Ferguson, Fletcher, Brown

Strikers: Boyd, McFadden, Miller (kenny), Maloney, O'Connor

hmmm no space for Riordan........or Budgie!

  8. I've only seen Soutar a few times. I think he was on loan to Brechin for a while and I saw him twice. Pish to Bog standard I think. Certainly I'd rather Gallagher but his wage demands would be more I'd guess.

Fucking hell, staying up to 11.35 pm to watch the highlights, that's punishment for leaving early. Sarah O better be wearing a slinky black number.....

  9. Ah I see, Auld Reekie rock......

......speaking of which, Refuse Boy were excellent. I was mightily impressed. Very NirvanaFugaziPavement. A lot more intricate songs than the ones on their myspace. (forward slash refuseboy). I think they are coming back up in July to play a gig at Drummonds with us.

Enjoyed the Tunnels, it was a good night, my wee bro's band Schmuk played too, I love those guys. We're playing The Moorings on saturday, we're on at 9. won't make 11th as I feel a bit of Zuton Fever coming on........

  10. I think some folk go to the games just to single someone out and have a go at them for 90 minutes. As you say, before a ball is even kicked some idiots will be giving someone pelters. Dempsey, for example, has played really well in the past 4 or so games (after being pretty abysmal before that) but some of the "Pittodrie Boo Boys" (copyright Evening Express) are still giving him pelters. same with Byrne (or "Bryne"!), had a poor start to his dons career but now puts in a solid shift but people don't seem to realise this.

I don't think Stewart has ever scored at Pittodrie, last goal he scored I think was at Tannadice last season.

Agree that Considine and MacAuley look like good players and I'm looking forward to seeing Maguire (which I really should have stayed for yesterday...). hopefully these promising players will develop better than the Young brothers, David Rowson, Phil McGuire, Kevin MacNaughton (a good player but not living up to his early hype), Darren Mackie, Ryan Esson, Scott Morrison, Scott Muirhead, Fergus Tiernan.............

  11. I'm not usually one to leave a game early but this season has worn me down so much that when Celtic scored their 2nd I got up and left, persuading my friends to join me! I was disgusted at Darren Mackie's ineptitude and the ease with which Maloney scored and couldn't see us getting back into it........Guess I was wrong! I'm sure if we'd stayed we'd have been beaten 3-0 so those cheers I heard on the way up Merkland Road made me feel like I'd played my part, taken one for the team, by leaving I'd opened the door to John Stewart's eye for goal. Maybe he just get's nervous infront of me.....

    I'm a terrible fan, I know.

As for the twat that sits behind you, we've had one all season too. Makes a bad game worse to hear the p1sh this guy comes out with in his high pitched, nasal voice. I hate him. Wherever you sit in a football stadium in Britain, you're never far away from a tosser.

  12. Dig is a really good film. The tambourine guy from BJTM was a hilarious character. They all seemed clinically mental too. The thing that struck me was while other artists will come across as a bit unhinged or loopy, I'm sure they have their "normal" moments as well. These guys were volatile, delusional crazy people 24/7, it wasn't just an act. It's hard to believe Anton is stil alive. A total c^nt but amusing all the same.
