The record store was tucked away at the back of Happy Trails. Anyone remember what it was called? Had copies of Zig Zag on display across one wall. Remember purchasing an ulra-rare live recording from The Slits. A Slaughter And The Dogs live boot too I think.

While I think Zig Zag featured more traditional acts during its early phase, from 1983 and under the editorship of Mick Mercer, it became much more goth friendly. Purchased the mag fairly regularly. Much missed. Punk Lives was, unlike punk zines of the time and since, available through mainsteam outlets and could be purchased from newsagents.

For those who haven't come across 'em before, some may recognise Dave and Fred Wilkinson from their appearances with both Toxik Ephex and Frantik Zimmer. They'll be playin' an acoustic set of covers featuring the work of Dick Gaughan and more.

Anyone else recall these eighties punk and goth mags? Featured Conflict, UK Decay, Psychic TV, Xmal Deutschland, The Mob, Alien Sex Fiend, Rubella Ballet, Southern Death Cult, Poison Girls, and more. Alternative TV - The Image Has Cracked Sunglasses After Dark - s/t Bauhaus - Go Away White The Straps - The Punk Collection

Phenominal act - at least throughout their early career. Unfortunately, with the departure of both Wobble and then former Clash man Levene, the band, under the auspices of Lydon, would choose a more commercial direction, producing a series of quite appalling releases. However, they did leave behind them three outstanding full lengths - First Issue, Metal Box, and Flowers Of Romance. And from that classic first full length here's Lydon and co performing Public Image: Still outstanding.

Not purchased a copy as yet, but intend to do so Sat. While tracks Black Stone Heart and Saved may lack the intensity of their early output, they are nevertheless none less interesting, and look forward to hearing the album in its entirety. Regarding following Pete's material post Bauhaus? Fraid I didn't beyond Dali's Car - his all too brief but fine collaborative project with Japan's Mick Karn.

Yes Pete Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins are back, and with their first new full length in 15 years.
