  1. Like many things it's a chance you take. I've carried guitars in and out of the country several times and never had any bother. But the ABZ HMC did take a 1000 ciggies off me a month ago....bugger. ABZ customs are the worse I've came up against. So many of them and so little work = The 'Excuse me Sir' routine. Glasgow is a close second. Heathrow is no problem. Thing is if you do get tugged, just own up.

  2. I play louder than anyone - certainly louder than any waveform machine can register' date=' just wait till I get some tubs to hit, Abdn city centre will think the end of the world is nigh.[/quote']

You certainly talk louder than anyone else, but I suppose it helps having a mouth as big as yours:up:

PS. I do like that dinky kit in your pix though.

  3. Is it the one pictured on the site? There is a red kit pictured there' date=' but I can't stand looking at the wallpaper behind you for any length of time...SIZE="1"']

Fixed your link by the way.

Hey, we only gig in quality venues!!!!

    Was the link busted?

  4. 5 piece. Red.

    22" bass' date=' 12" and 13" hanging toms, 16" floor tom, 14" snare.

    Paiste Hi-hats.

2 Sabian Solar 16" crash cymbals.

    Cowbell.

Recent Remo Skin for snare and New Remo skins for other drums.

Bought the kit new from Birminghan Drum Centre about 5 years ago. Was the beginning of my mid life crisis at the time when I started drumming again after a long break.

Kit has been gigged with the Red Cortinas ([url']www.redcortinas.piczo.com). Good condition.

Recent upgrade (to 6 piece Premier Artist Birch with Iron Cobra Pedals) is reason for sale.

Ideal for beginner or perhaps someone like myself who wants to get back into drumming after some time away, without breaking the bank.

    Looking for 120 ONO

Is set up in my garage in Peterhead. Come and give it a bash.

    PM or call 01779 473818 after 6pm.

Come on Dave..It's like a woman selling a car. It's a Red one.

Only a private joke before all you women out there that know exactly what make/model/cc/colour of car they have, get annoyed.

  5. Over the years I've had a few cabs/combos etc. As usual I always think the newest purchase is what I been looking for. However, as is the usual case, I become disgruntled with my set-up. My latest bug bear is the sound I get from my cabs etc.

Ive found that I get the sound I really like while Im standing next to the cab, but whenever I go out front and on axis to the speaker cone, the sound I hear while standing next to the speaker goes awol, and is replaced by a harsh/weedy sound (but loud as hell). Im not the only person that thinks this, in fact it was the other band members that brought this to light during a practice session.

This has happened with Marshall 4x12, Marshall combos and Boogie combos.

I now have a VOX AC30 c/w blues, and it does not seem to be as bad.

Has anyone else came across this problem, and got an answer for it?

  6. No doubt they would' date=' in the beginning. But with names comes a database - and if they spot large amounts of tickets all getting name changed, it's pretty obvious they're being touted, giving the promoters a way to effectively blacklist the touts.[/quote']

I think most promoters like all this hype. they might make a token gesture statement about how much they dislike the touts because they stop the true fans getting tickets etc etc, but hey, let's face it, if people thought that they could get a TITP ticket no problem, say up until 2 weeks before the gig, they would dowdle about for months before getting round to ordering them. However, because everyone who would like to go is worried about not getttng a ticket (partly due to lowlifes buying tickets only to sell on) they get into a ticket frenzy. The result, all tickets sold out in a matter of hours. GREAT BUSINESS.

It's not just gig tickets that get this treatment. Check the list below for 'hyped sales' excuss me if the names are not correct, or a little bit cheesy, but you get the picture.

    Buzz Lightyear

    Playstations

    Cabbage Patch Dolls

the list could go on and on, and gets bigger every year.

There only one loser in this game, and it's the buying public

  7. I get really pi$$ed off with people who buy tickets and then sell them for a profit. I work away from home, and on several occasions have had tickets for gigs that I've had to miss due to getting a call to go away - 2005 T in the Park springs to mind. However, I always sale the tickets for how much I bought them for.

  8. Shit in Shit out....SISO

Toms is a great place to record up to a certain standard' date=' they make recording affordable to young bands with a tiny budget, and with a little forward planning, lots of rehersal and a knowlege of your own equipment and how you want to sound, an acceptable demo recording is achievable for little financial outlay at Cptn Toms.

Thats my opinion for what its worth...8)[/quote']

    I agree!!!

  9. I sold it to Callum out of The Void/Jinx on the provisio that if he ever sold it' date=' he would give me first shout on it.[/quote']

Not that old chestnut again. How many guitars/amps/pedals etc have we sold and said that to the buyer.

  10. True' date=' Last year i couldnt get tickets and i know this sounds stupid but when youve been there the last 14 years and some lil fuckin 16year old gets you can get fuckin pissed!!

I got mine yesterday this time (As well as my 58 year old workmate that i am on nights with) . Dunno if ill be offshore next year but fuck it, its better to have them and not go than be able to go and not have them.

With regards to acts not being announced yet, thats not really a concern for me as past years ive been there has always been more than enough bands through out the weekend that i like!!

So ill be there next year : Woohoo [/quote']

I know what you mean, but everyone should get the chance to go. It's just when they say "I 've got my ticket, but I don't see any bands I'd like to watch' arghhh! a$$holes!

  11. I had a fender telecaster squire and the only thing that resembled a genuine telecaster was the shape. The parts and craftmanship were well below par. It's good for some things' date=' but not if you want it to sound like a tele, even upgrading the pickups did little to revive the squires sound.

I'd really reccomend avoiding anything with the squire logo on, unless you intend on abusing it physically and tonally, in which case they are perfect.[/quote']

What a strange thing to say. I have a MIJ strat. The one with a large Fender logo and the small Squire logo. It sounds good, plays as good as any of the two us strats I've owned, although the MIJ pups sounded a little weaker than the US pups which of course could just be my ears telling me something my heart wanted to hear. Or should that be the other way round!!!?

I also have a MIJ bound body tele. This is better in ever way than the 70's US tele I owned. I'm sure there will be a few sharp intakes of breath about that last comment, but hey, the MIJ was better than the 70's tele...IMO. I also had a 52 RI. This was a different beast altogether. I would recommomend anyone to save the extra money to get a RI over the standard nowadays....the whole feel of them are better.

    cheers min!
