  1. I only got 1 of those references. Plus a half because I could see the word "saint" in the background of another.

EDIT: Another half for another spotting of the word saint.

  2. I got about 2 episodes in and got pretty bored - is this one of those shows I should power through for a few episodes before it "clicks" or did y'all like it pretty much immediately? I've watched a super-cut of the best Ricky-isms and thought it was pretty great, but couldn't see much of that in the episodes I watched..

I can't see Brexit not happening. The MPs will just have more of an input in the negotiations. Seems like the majority of MPs are committed to Brexit from all the noise that has come out of today. Surely they won't vote against their constituents?

MPs will be in a position to vote when they can see a clear(er) version of the specific deal we'll get. I think the referendum showed the public aren't happy but it'd be fucking idiocy to assume that the public want out at ANY COST, so an MP may well vote against Brexit if the deal we get offered is total dogshit, even if theyr constituency was pro Brexit.

  4. Luke Cake -  I fucking loved it. Loved the political undertones and the references to real life.. though the Mike Tyson praise rubbed me the wrong way, given that he's a convicted rapist.. Seemed an odd choice for being swooned over. The violence could've been a bit more violent in places, I thought, but it did feel like it had to pander to a wide audience in a lot of ways.

Difficult People - Holy fucking shit I love this show so much! About half way through season 1 just now. Billy Eichner is so much awesome.

Stranger Things - I fucking hated the ending. The rest of the show was pretty good, but I don't get the megahype over it, which seems to be down to the fact that it didn't make me feel nostalgic for other, similar, TV shows and movies?

Gotham (season 2) - Better than the first one but it has some pacing issues in places and it's a long cunt of a season with 23 hour-long episodes. Still really enjoyed it though.

Rick and Morty - Loving this but my wife isn't a fan, so I'll be watching this one solo when she's at work. When I watch this I imagine I enjoy it in the same way that some people enjoy Adventure Time?

Ash vs the Evil Dead - Brilliant. All of the camp silliness of the movies with some fairly decent (without being TOO good) special effects. Fuck yeah.

Just watched the last two episodes. I did like the story arcs, but I think it could have been trimmed down a couple of episodes. There's a lot of weight slowing it down.

I felt a bit underwhelmed with the finale though. Without going in to too much detail, there's a few things they purposely make really obvious, so you figure out what is going to happen. It panders to a dumb audience a little too much.

Its better than Daredevil season 1. I didn't see the second, because the first was garbage. I don't get the hype. Not a single likeable character in it.

I really liked DD season 1 but season 2 is, in my opinion, the high bar to meet for Marvel right now. I'd strongly recommend giving it a bash.

Did you manage to obtain it?

I just finished season two. It just kept getting better with each episode. They also introduce a trans woman character who won't shut up about 9/11. Too good.

    Julie Klausner is

Downloaded bought from the DVD shop and it's on the pile to get through.

Just finished Preacher (fucking awesome), getting through Gotham season 2 now (also pretty awesome) then we have RuPaul Drag Race season 7, Luke Cage and Stranger things to do! Fucking TV. There's just too much.

Difficult People, with Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner, is great fun. They pretty much play themselves, since they're both called Billy and Julie. The soundtrack also seems to be mostly lo-fi punk rock too. win/win/win.

This on Netflix? Sounds right up my street, Eichner is awesome!

  7. I fucked of wwe because I just got sick of how slow it is.  Playing FarCry 4 now. 10 hours in and I've done one mission.  Otherwise I've been hunting bears to get better kit and climbing towers and shit. It's a great game but there's WAY too much going on. I don't wanna start the story properly because I know if I do I'll have to stop to do all this shit later. I MISS LINEAR STORY LINES.

  8. No particular order

Skyrim (racked up 100s of hours on xbox360 then when it RRODd I bought it on pc and racked up 100s more.)

    A Link to the Past

Assassin's Creed (all of then.  Even the shite ones are alright.)

Batman Arkham (all of them. Gaming perfection)

Pokemon (RBY especially but all of them too)

Some recent quotes from my AGFW. FTR this person is privately schooled and is now my manager.

    [Fuckfest of quotes]

Is English this person's first language? Because if not then most of those are pretty forgivable and I'd feel like a cunt for making fun of them... If it is however, then that person being your boss means your career is dogshit. Although I do like "Dark Fox". Sounds like a villain in Star Fox. I would play that game.

Picked up Last of Us not knowing anything about it. Floored. Such a great game. Any suggestions of similar games to this? (movie-like plot + awesome action). I've got the uncharteds except the newest one, which i'll pick up when it's cheap.

LotR: Shadow of Mordor is pretty awesome. The plot is strong but not THE GREATEST, but the action is amazing - similar to Assassin's Creed.

  12. Yeah that's what I was gonna get at - that while shooter games and stealth games seem to be keeping it kinda simple with safety nets, checkpoints, infinite lives and billions of gadgets, sports games seem to be squeezing infinite complexity into the minutiae.

Personally, my biggest hatred in gaming just now is fucking resource gathering. Like, Far Cry 3 is the latest in that series that I've played, but I got so fucking sick of having to stop playing the main quest to go find 50 fucking boars to kill and skin to make a new satchel to get a better carry capacity. Fuck. That. Shit. Just give me a good game without that fucking cunting about. What happened to linear stories?!

I normally do my first playthrough on medium. So I know it's not going to be a cakewalk but also I'm not going to get stuck on a bit near the end forever and not find out how the game ends. Going back to old games after new ones is difficult. Especially MGS with the shitty camera and controls on MGS1. Used a walk through on easy for the MSX games. Fuck that.

Same with Uncharted 4. The controls worked so well. I was fucked on the first 3 when I couldn't hide in tall grass and do easy take downs.

I used to, but since my game time is shorter now I rarely get the chance to replay a game so I just go right in to the hardest mode and slog through it. Regular checkpoints and saves mean there's not much you can't beat if you're a bit stubborn!

I've never actually played it tbh, I was just trolling. The XBox 360 version doesn't have mini games, just button mashing, and you can turn down the AI reversals in settings.

I can't even remember what the submission system was in 2k15, I just remember kicking ass at with! I set basically all of my heavy ground attacks to submission holds and just fucking destroyed them. Because not only do submissions give you a change of an outright win, but the longer you can hold it the more damage it inflicts too. Seems to me like they've just totally fucked it in this release.

And yeah, you can turn down the difficulty too if you're a complete waste of thumbs. HARD MODE 4EVR.

I'm proudly shit at all video games. Newer games don't seem very forgiving towards casual gamers like me anymore.

It's the move towards simulation over arcade gameplay. I used to love the John Madden games on the mega drive and then early on with the PS1. They're so realistic now, and the level of control is so much more complex that the level of fun is compromised.

or maybe I'm just old and grouchy. Get off my lawn.

Do you play a lot of Sports games? It's interesting you say that as I've been reading (watching youtube vlogs) with lots of criticism towards modern games for being too coddling to gamers and removing a lot of the threat and challenge. Going back and playing some older games, some of them were brutal! Though, many of them were harder because they were much simpler, but didn't have save points every 30 seconds..

Maybe you guys are just shit at it.

    Your face is shit.

My big problem with the submissions is that it's hard to get practice. Like, the training at the start where you just keep jumping into submission holds constantly. I want that. I want to be able to train in the areas I'm weak in. And the reversals tend to vary wildly depending on your character stats. At the start of My Career I couldn't reverse shit, but I've been adding as many attribute points to speed and reversal stats and I'm definitely seeing a turn.

I gave WWE2k16 a go, as it's free on Xbox One right now.

Is there any way to be, like, good at it? I just keep getting destroyed against the CPU. And the mini-games to break out of submission moves and pins are shite. What happened to the tried-and-tested button mashing?

But overall, everything just gets reversed. My matches pretty much go likes this:

Right, Orton, I'm going to lay into you with some punches to get the crowd going. Oh, but you blocked the first one, and I'm bodyslammed on the ground. Not to worry, I'm up, and your face is going to taste the mat with this DDT. Nah, you've reversed it, and I'm heading to Suplex City. Bam! Can I get up? Nah, you're going to stamp on my head for ages. You sometimes let me get half way up, and then just cave my head in again, you cunt. That's cool. Pin already? I scraped out of it, only just, fuck those spinning circle things. Get in, I finally get something in without you reversing it. Irish whip into the turnbuckle. I'm going to run at you with an enormous clothesline. Eat this. Oh, you ducked it, now you're smashing my head against the turnbuckle. Repeat the head-stamp and pin attempt. Fluked escape. Fuck you Orton. I'm just going to throw you out of the ring, because you're doing my head in. Oh, reverse irish whip, and I'm catapulted over the top rope instead. The exact opposite of what I wanted to happen. Well, just wait til you get down here. I'm smashing you into that announce table. Or maybe not, you've reversed that, and my body has now destroyed the announce table. Start > Quit. Fuck you, game.

The MyCareer seems to ease you in a little bit, but it's still frustrating as fuck. Especially the submissions. The minigame for those is the WORST. I've been fucking destroying someone, have a full health bar more than them, and be beaten by a submission hold because it's such a wonky piece of shit. Reversals seem to be the key though. I don't even both attacking that much, just wait for them to and go for the reversal. Anything else is a waste of time.

  17. I have a NAS server at home so when I buy DVDs I legally copy them to my home server for personal home use only and, since my living room TV runs my PC for gaming then I can just stream it over my home network using VLC or similar.

I've never used one, but friends have similar NAS setups to me and there's software that'll allow you to pick a series and will automatically buy the latest episodes as they're released which is pretty cool, but I'm a binge-watcher by nature anyway so I tend to wait for the whole box set and get it all at once.
