  1. Alright Jo-d, how's it goin? It's Sam. I remember you showing me list of all the DJs last year, didn't realise it for ADE, just clicked now.

Yeah noticed that Cocoon after party, looks dangerous. Me and Greg have vowed not to go to it so we're fit for Saturday night but I doubt that'll happen.

  2. Yeah I don't really think DC gives a shit anymore. I've seen him a few times and it's just gotten progressively harder each time. The last time he was at the Tunnels was ridiculous and really unenjoyable (although heard a rumour as to why that was).

    A smile wouldn't go a miss either.

  3. All those tunes sounds like they've been taken straight from a Steve Lawler set. You got any of his cds? Viva, Viva Toronto and Lights Out 3 are all amazing. You'll probably find heaps of tunes you like from those if you're keen on that myspace link you posted.

My friends are going to Ibiza next week and for some reason Steve Lawler isn't playing Space on the Sunday they're there. GUTTED.

  4. Don't suppose anyone else is heading over for this in October?

The line was just announced today...

Amsterdam Dance Event 23/24/25 october 2008

    Looking forward to...

    AudioJack (UK)

    Dave Clarke (GB)

    DJ Hell (DE)

    John Dahlbck (SE)

    Josh Wink (US)

    Legowelt live (NL)

    Marc Houle (US)

    Oliver Huntemann (DE)

    Richie Hawtin (CA)

    Steve Bug (DE)

    Sven Vth (DE)

    The Hacker (FR)

    Trentemller DJ-set (DK)

    Troy Pierce (US)

Anyone spot anyone else on the list they think are worth checking out? Might have to look at all of their myspaces to see if there are any good acts. Some of the club nights finish at 10am, which is nice.

  5. Well it's nice to able to listen to music in a mix without knowing or caring who made it, and deciding for yourself wether you like it or not purely on its own merit. I don't see what's funny about that. I enjoy talking to people to try and suss what that amazing tune is on that mix from the other day, it gets people communicating and gets people excited about the music.

Then again I suppose some people just enjoy waiting for the latest press release from radiohead while suggesting that anyone who does any different is pretentious...fair enough.

Got a link to one of these recent mixes?

  6. Computer broke so I've had to start afresh untill all the data's retrieved so decided to use this as an oppurtunity to download some albums I probably should own but don't, so I got...

    NWA - Straight Outta Compton

    Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

    Brian Wilson - Smile

    Beck - Odelay

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back

On the newer side of things I have got

    Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

Loco Dice - 7 Dunham Place

    Miss Kittin - Batbox

    Steve Lawler - Viva Toronto

    Ellen Allien - Sool

Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight

    Kalabrese - Rumpelzirkus

    All good.

  7. I saw...

    Friday

Stereophonics - were the only band on when we first went in, boring.

    Chemical Brothers - Alright

Spent most in the night in the B-Bar, it was more fun

    Saturday

    Dubfire - Good

Model 500 - Didn't live up to expectations

Dusty Kid - Possibly set of the weekend

Erol Alkan - Finally a good set from this cunt, he didn't hold back

    Modeselektor - Good fun

    Rage - Again, good fun.

    Sunday

The X-Certs - Hadn't seen them in a while and they were really good

Miss Kitting and The Hacker - Dissapointing

Vampire Weekend - Ran from the Slam Tent to where they were playing on my own and the tent was full so stood and watched some darkness play Vampire Weekend songs for a bit, they sounded good but would have been better if I'd gotten in.

DJ Hell - Was annoyingly boring

Edgar Prais - FORGOT TO GO AND SEE THEM AAAAH

Justice - Saw them in the unbelievably big Sonar by Night Arena in Barca a few weeks ago so this was never going to live up to that but they stil put on a really good set.

Richie Hawtin - Can't beat a bit of minimal, another good set.

The Prodigy - A good way to finish the weekend, couldn't stop smiling.

Overall one of the best weekends of my life, can't wait for next year. People always moan about neds there but I experienced aboslutely no problems from anyone and made about a million new friends over the weekend.
