  1. To whomever had the nerve to have said Dylan's version of 'All Along the Watchtower' "sucks", you've got a lot to learn. No one does Dylan better than Dylan. I respect personal opinion, but it seems to have been founded out of ignorance more than anything else.

Personally, I think that M. Ward's version of 'Let's Dance' by David Bowie is the best cover I've ever heard. I doubt Bowie himself realised that the song could sound so delicate and achingly beautiful. I would recommend downloading the song to hear for yourself.

  2. Point 1) i dont care about miles davis or any jazz musicians. The bands i listen to are good enough to mean something to me without having to using marijuana to get their creativity going.

I can't help but notice that in your public profile, the first two bands mentioned are The Doors and The Mars Volta. I hope you're aware that the figureheads within these bands are all on record as saying they've used mind-altering substances to open doors within their mind, therefore helping their creativity?

  3. I think he has written some good tunes in his time' date=' however i wouldn't class myself as a fan. I think he is very self absorbed and should try writing about somethingelse rather than him. I also feel he is promoting folk music in the wrong way. Alot of young people will buy bright eyes and think wow, who does conor like himself? Oh Bob dylan, right so he must be the meaning of folk. Fair enough Bob Dylan is amazing, but these people should start looking at other types of folk music if they say they are folk fans.[/quote']

    What are you talking about?

First of all, should you have given much time to Bright Eyes you'd find that he's touched upon subjects other than himself: politics appear to be his new forte (At The Bottom of Everything, Old Soul Song, Landlocked Blues, Road To Joy - all off the new record - are politically minded). You have to also consider that his songs aren't necessarily autobiographical. He's no more self absorbed than any other writer, or poet.

Second, in regards to Bob Dylan. Anyone who exposes kids to an artist like Bob Dylan should be praised, in my opinion, rather than criticised. I'm sure that if they claim to be genuinely interested in folk music then Bob Dylan will prove to be a gateway, opening them up to people like Joan Baez, Woody Guthrie and Phil Ochs amongst others. I just cannot comprehend how one person can promote folk music in the 'wrong' way?

  4. conor oberst is essentially bright eyes' date=' but other people play on the records, and live.[/quote']

He's now down on record as saying Mike Mogis is his continuous collaborator. So essentially it's those two; although Conor is responsible for the songwriting, Mogis played a huge part in the making of DADU.

The video for Lua is the 'official' video. Saying it's 'crap' defeats the point, it was thrown together on a budget to cater for demand - Conor is officially big business in the States now: I'm Wide Awake debuted at #10 on the Billboard Album Chart with 56,000; Digital Ash #15 with 46,000.

  5. I'm not sure about willy mason' date=' he seems a bit boring and run of the mill, unfortunately.

The other act on the Team Love label roster, Tilly And The Wall, however, more than make up for this.[/quote']

I disagree. Tilly and the Wall may have some great pop songs, but a lot of their material is strictly average and other than the tap-dancing gimmick, there's little to distinguish them from the countless other indie acts across the atlantic.

I do know that Team Love will be releasing Jenny Lewis's solo record, which in my opinion, is the most exciting prospect yet for the label.
