  1. Agree about the venues such as Kef etc but a city the size of Aberdeen SHOULD attract the best up and coming bands along with the top names.
  2. Moshulu is a very good venue and I hope it continues to attract bands. Maybe it needs to get a feature in the EE on a Thursday night to advertise what's coming. That said I don't think the EE shows much support to the cause. And I did mean it's great to see more bands coming to the city.
  3. I agree with you, Dogs played at Moshulu to about 30 folk and the Bluetones were maybe a couple of hundred. Maybe the smaller venues should do a bit more advertsing, like the Lemon Tree mag giving descriptions of bands and the type of music they play. Went to see Ordinary Boys and Kaiser Chiefs at Kef after reading a couple of things about them. Would love to see all the venues full every night. All I was saying is that there was a complete lack of 'bigger' bands coming to Aberdeen. I've lost count of the number of journeys I've had to Glasgow/edinburg, even Dundee over the last few years.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Look at Franz F, when they paly AECC they have the Editors and the Rakes with them. Great chance for up and coming bands to play such venues. Saw the Rakes at the Lemon Tree and they were excellent
  5. Don't think so. It's a matter of choice. Maybe Oasis are not quite what they were a decade ago but judging what I saw at the Usher Hall in May they still put on a decent show. Maybe you think it's 'uncool' to watch a big band.
  6. I meant known bands. I do go to most venues and will happily watch any up and coming band. But it''s pretty good to get big bands heading for Aberdeen. Maybe you think if they are big then they've 'sold out'
  7. Know I put this on as a reply, but it really isn't before time that our venues started to rock again. About time the AECC started getting bands to Aberdeen. It's no wonder they're in such a mess when the extent of the what's on was a needlecraft exhibition and Disney on Ice. Franz, Oasis and James Blunt all sold out. Just shows the Aberdeen public will support gigs if those in charge of the venues can be bothered to get their fingers out. Let's get the Foo Fighters in December as well >>>
  8. Worst thing I saw the whole weekend apart from the thunder

  10. Saw tham at Glastonbury this year and they were awful. Can't see why there's a big deal about this lot. Libertines were brilliant but Babyshambles ..no way.
  11. The Engineers / Kaiser Chiefs and Idlewild, all pretty good but Doves - Some Cities best of 2005 so far.
