No way they'll fill the AECC. I would have gone to see them 10 years ago, dunno if it'll be worth it these days though.

They're just as good and will predominantly be playing old stuff, so nae that different from 10 years ago.

Like I say, It's not exactly earth shattering, but worth a listen if you're a Green Day fan. I'd avoid otherwise.

Bit of a strange one, isn't it? The Music Hall is more in line with the venues they're playing.

There's not been a Manchester date announced yet either, which is even stranger.

Saw them at T this year and they were superb. never used to like them, but looking forward to seeing them again.

Aw, I would have absolutely loved a full-band version of Masses and an acoustic Suicide Is Painless, but it was nice to hear an acoustic Masses as a bit of a change..

Fully. Never heard it acoustic before, so it was nice to hear it live. But the full band version reminded me what I liked about this song so much - a great racket with added shoutage!

Here is a run down of what i paid for my night at Lemon Tree...with 'local' nights like this i feel that the statement in the paper was a bit of a dissapointment...

1000 for hire = VAT 1175

Just before the gig i found out that this price did not include the lightin technician OR the drum kit...SHOCKING!!!

I had been led to belive that the Lemon Tree would supply some crates of beers for the guys upstairs but i ended up doing that too...

I got a settlement cheque through last week actually (i was meant to get it within 14 days) for 44...thats how much i made...bearing in mind the bands didnt get paid either...

The Lemon Tree made all of the above plus however much was made from the 300 people drinking at the bar AND they added 2.50 onto the ticket prices at the door so people were paying 7.50 instead of a fiver...

I said to them please take the price down to a fiver but still take your 2.50 but nope...

Peacock Visual Arts does do music...

It HAS to reopen under private ownership...

As good an advert as any to get a contract in writing before any money is handed over?

"Led to believe" and "just before the gig" ain't good enough, even if you assume the venue would be trustworthy.

Anyway, the Lemon Tree took it's own path. It was the best venue in Aberdeen by miles in the nineties, attracting loads of great acts and getting them in an intimate venue with rabid fans. Recent years saw the management turn it into a stop on the tribute and nostalgia circuit and no more than a stop gap for acts who wanted to avoid the livelier, trendier Tunnels & Moshulu or weren't big enough for the Music Hall. In addition, the beer was hideously overpriced and some of the ticket prices were beyond steep.

It's harsh, but they deserved what they got through their shite booking and through turning the place into an uninviting dingy dive. What happened to the Juice evenings and Pound Club nights of yesteryear? There was no effort by the management to advertise or try and freshen the place up with a new club night or by getting local acts to play (wow, look what Flash is doing right now and how much interest there's been - It's nae rocket science. Bands need somewhere to play and the Lemon Tree was such a great venue in the past for giving local supports.

What's going to happen to the hallowed amazing sound desk, I wonder?

I would love to see it made into a slick venue that could attract top acts and get some intimate gigs by medium - sized acts back on the go. With cheap booze on offer!

Sad day, but they had it coming.

Edinburgh just edged it last night with Suicide is Painless getting the acoustic treatment instead of Masses Against the Classes, which got the full band, replacing Rendition.

Kevn Carter instead of Enola / Alone was the only other change.

Heaps of grade A banter throughout. They love Edinburgh.

Probably the first and last time I'll see a band on consecutive nights so I'm glad it was with the Manics.

I saw Cecil play at Kef in, ooooh, 1997/98. Can't remember who with. Possibly China Drum. I liked one song in particular; "Hostage In A Frock", which is on "Subtitles".

They also supported Mansun at the Beach Ballroom. They wiped the floor with Mansun.

Cecil played at Kef with no - one. There was no support.

China Drum played Kef with the Pecadillos, offically one of the worst bands I've ever seen. On the other hand they spawned one of the best heckles ever - "Pecker dildos are shite!"

Listening to the new stuff and it's fucking brilliant - dare I say a return to form? Oh yes, "American Pornography" is hitting the spot. Classic annie c. (loving the continued use of no capitals.) Twilight has been a mainstay on my stereo for almost a decade now - how time flies. My sis and i were just saying the other day what a fantastic L.P. it is with no low points! Also noticed the majority of my ipod top 25 is made up of annie c b - sides! Best described as "lovely stuff." Not my words - the words of Shakin' Stevens!

Anyway, enough of the tribute - I'm remembering the magical gigs at the Lemon Tree -The sheer joy when you told me the Other Way had a Joy Division cover on the back of it! Still my favourite J.D. cover ever. I'll have to dig out the old white annie c. t - shirt! Chances of it fitting now - 0%!

One of the finest British bands of all time for me.

Pele gig was a blast - Kef was better but the chaos & confusion created at the Mansun gig at the Ballroom was vintage. Saw them at T in the Park '96 when they were on before the Jesus Lizard. It was then I earned my moshpit stripes - they really packed a wallop during the Bombar Diddlah era.

Had some great banter with these guys even though my buddies and I were pretty young at the time. Discovering the upstairs bit in the old Kef was the "backstage area" was brill - such affable guys - despite the madness onstage they were down to earth Scousers.

I really think Ste Williams was a treasure. A fantastic, very abstract lyricist and a unique singer. I would recommend the album Subtitles to anyone. A genuine underrated classic.

And let's not forget the classy Neil Young and Dr. Hook covers. And the piece de resistance - the cover of "On the Inside" made famous as the theme tune of Prisoner Cell Block H!

Such a shame they never made it - they were on Parlophone records and really had a chance but I think they were a victim of the whole Britpop thing and were a band no - one could quite pigeonhole. Their second crack as Voy never even spawned an album but two cracking EPs.

I still listen to Cedric a lot and miss them.

I saw it last night. I thought it was an utter waste of time as well. Didn't improve on the original in any way at all. Just.... pointless. And I love Rob Zombie a lot. Not so much dissapointed as thinking "after he made all this did he really think there was any point?" I just can't see it. It's not as if he was attempting to rebuff an old film and make a "2007" extra scary version - it was just like the original!

The clown mask was the highlight for me, along with his subtle rock references (Kiss T - Shirt, Misfits version of "Halloween" etc.)

Never mind, Rob is a genius and I'm sure he'll make an ace, brand new film soon as good as House of 1,000 Corpses soon. Just not another remake, eh?!!!!!!!!!

I think Langfield has proven his worth now. Jimmy was forced to make a joke about buying him a drink! He's gonna have to keep him between the sticks now.

I was dissapointed that Jimmy mentioned Rangers and Celtic almost instantly when he was interviewed. The Old Firm managers never had anything nice to say about us so I don't see why they had to be involved! Darren was ace though and was just like a fan even though it was him that proved the difference!

Glad to see the cash earned will go to getting players contracts tied up (hopefully.) I'd still like a bit of it to go towards another striker, though. What does everyone think?

Anyway, hopefully we can carry the momentum to Sunday and give St. Mirren a right doing. There's no reason why why a) can't and b) shouldn't be. We'll see - whatever happens - remember - sometimes Jimmy is right!!!!!
