  1. i like the track i heard from it on the epitaph site but people i've talked to say it sounds poo too :( this is upsetting. Grant' date=' I'll back up Jim's recs of -

norma Jean - bless the martyr, kiss the child

    converge - jane doe

    and add to this...

johnny truant - the repurcussions of a badly planned suicide

    strapping young lad - city[/quote']

Hmm i quite like Norma Jean, they were damn good at Kef a few months back. Never picked up the Johnny Truant (mini-)album though, always meant to.

If the new Converge album is not amazing I will cry. The new Dillinger one is soooo different (from what i've heard).

  2. ive heard and hate both dillenger and converge Rab (who ya may have seen post around here) likes em and nah i couldnt get into em...i thought i heard a converge track i liked but upon listening to the album at his again it appears i didnt lol.

I'm not really into my hardcore (or whatever) much but i fucking LOVE 'Jane Doe'. It is absolute heaven. Can't wait for new album. I have a suspicion that the new dillinger album is out, and the new neurosis one...hot damn! 8o I can't believe i didn't check for them in abdn the other day...

  3. what is the name of the company that produces them?

Im not a great fan of Epiphone Thunderbird-although the sound is nice its quite annoyingly uncomfortable to play.

It's Schechter (sp?) that makes them, isn't it? I do love the Epi Thunderbird though, the neck heaviness doesn't bother me too much and i love the thickness of the sound...

(you may have guessed i play bass a little bit/sometimes)

  4. theres also those funky daisy rock basses (short scale so its not much longer than a guitar and designed for gurls apparently...im saying anything bad by that its just that they say they are so it mite be a help)...id get one if they werent short scale..rocking a nice big pink flower would be pretty kewl me thinks
i really want a pink sparkly one...but i dont like short scale so alas...my search shall continue

It's comments like this that shall be the demise of our band, matey. I saw quite a cool shortscale tele bass on ebay today...I can't remember who it was by, possibly a Burns/Fender mishmash.

  5. no idea...i have to first one but thats all iv heard

if you guys are into messed music you might want to come to the moorings on saturday to see us (sorry i had to ruin this lovely thread with a shitty plug  )

I think your friend (and singer in my band) Soph is dragging me along anyways *connection* 8o :D

'Delirium Cordia' is actually pretty damed good..totally different from the other albums. Not exactly easy listening though, ive only had it on all the way through once or twice. Grates towards the end.

    The artwork is amazing though.

  6. McDonalds over BK too.

Never!! Hmm i'd wish i'd bought a Tokai a couple of years back when they were dead cheap, played some semi-hollowed-thingy the other day and it was sweet-as. I just play a Fender fat-strat (Mex), mainly. Hands up if you're boring... :band:

  7. I don't really rate shredders unless they're doing something near-tasteful, but that's just me. My top guitarists would be:

Jeff Buckley - totally organic, soulful style. Favourite guitarist.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - with Jim Ward as well, I guess.

    Ian MacKaye/Guy Piccioto (Fugazi)

Thurston Moore/Lee Ranaldo/Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) - Kim is better on bass though.

    Kurt Ballou (Converge)

Jimmy Page (Zep) - really the only "guitarist's guitarist" who I like.

Lou Reed/Sterling Morrision (VU) - minimal and noisy, great stuff.
