Good to see people mentioning 'In the Aeroplane over the Sea' - heard it for the first time a month or two ago and it's totally amazing. Some stuff (in rough order):
Korn - Korn
Deftones - White Pony
ATDI - Relationship of Command
Fugazi - 13 Songs
Dillinger Esape Plan - Calculating Infinity
Biffy Clyro - Blackened Sky
Radiohead - OK Computer
Converge - Jane Doe
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Velvet Underground and Nico - S/T
..for various reasons.

I don't think I'll go see this. The second one was a load of wank. Seriously, the first one was sooo good they should've just left it alone. Fuckers.
-
ooh i want to play them again now...I don't have my PS with me here unfortunately. FFVII was totally epic, such a good atmosphere. I wasted an entire summer playing it when I was 14 or something.
-
Ephel Duath were pretty good actually, but (amazingly enough) they were getting a bit samey by the end of the set. I'm really not sure if i liked them or not...they confused me a bit!

I take it this isn't going to happen then? Tour dates are up on http://www.jimbeammusic.co.uk/ for the Jim Beam sponsored tour in March & the Scottish dates are Dundee' date=' Edinburgh & Glasgow.[/quote']

I really don't get PTW..I think they're a bit bland. They were definately better live than on record, they had a bit of a Cult of Luna vibe about them, but still I just think they sound a bit like every other screamy band.
Dillinger on the other hand....

I've just finished listening to the soothing sounds of Dillinger Escape Plan at the Liquid Room. Stunning performance, possibly gig of the year for me...

I've got a Boss DD-6 which i've had for years and it's such a useful pedal. It has a loop/overdub time of around 5 seconds, and an actual delay time of 2.5 seconds max (you can double this by using the stereo ports though). It suits me fine, but I guess if you were going in for some heavy-duty ambient electronicy stuff then you'd need something fancier. Also, DD-6's are a bit pricey and im not sure how advanced the features are compared to other DD pedals.

Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Converge, Eightie's Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Sigur Ros, The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, The Raveonettes, Fugazi, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Interpol, The Dandy Warhols, Aphex Twin, Slint...

Sometimes I think a lot of the stuff that gets put on TV nowadays isn't too far off the 'Prole-feed' - cheap/trivia entertainment - they talk about in the novel.
1984 is a great book, but I think I actually enjoyed reading 'Down and Out in Paris and London' more. A lot of interesting insights into poverty etc...incidentally, I did The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks for my Higher english and loved it (and passed it, which helps). I think there's quite a lot to consider in 1984 so it'd be hard to get a good mark.

Politik are definately the best (local) band I've ever seen from Aberdeen. Managed to miss both them and Deadalus back home but managed to catch them when they played Edinburgh a few weeks back. Was thoroughly impressed by both bands, and I don't really think Politik sound an awful lot like SY.

Holy fucking shit! Hell yeah! Fucking love them!
.... christ' date=' Sharon Foo is also just stunning.[/quote']Seconded.

I believe that it's only Mike D that runs the label but as Radiohead said I Might Be Wrong.
Didn't it go bust/stop releasing shit lately?
EDIT:http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1037010
Yeah, it was the label he owned, but it went bust a couple of years ago, didn't it? Fucking Awesome album anyway. I just found out yesterday that Iggy Pop sang on it (I never owned a proper copy of it). Weird.
Edit: Just read the link on that post, ignore me!

Stuff I'm into recently:
Manics (Holy Bible), Dandy Warhols (recent stuff), Beatles (Sgt.Pepper + Revolver), Converge (new album), King Crimson, Minor Threat, Eighties Matchbox... (new album - fucking amazing!), Pixies (Doolittle)...
Yahh.

fucking hell! that's amazingly demented..!

I'm so gutted... he was a legend. Not much more to say that hasn't been said already.
Rest in Peace.

This sounds really fucking cool, but I don't think it would be practical for me to travel (from Edinburgh) for this kinda thing. I've always kinda fancied doing a really basic, two-peice rock/experimental-type thang...=/
-
At the mo:
The Beatles - Taxman (or just about anything off Revolver)
Bjork - Joga, Hyperballad, All is full of Love
Interpol - Next Exit (fucking gorgeous)
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Just like Honey

Edinburgh is horrific for drinks prices though!
Oh but it depends...fridays and saturdays are a no-go (hence why I'm on here...) but during the week a lot of places are ridiculously cheap.
-
this is a bit crap for people who drink sensibly, don't get into fights, or whatever. Then again, drinks are more expensive than the new minumum prices in a lot of places anyway. All I can say is...I love Edinburgh

oh god, one of the guys in my hall at uni has Pro Evo 3 and everyone (including me) is now addicted to it...i don't even LIKE football!

What the hell are Eska up to nowadays? I've heard literally nothing about them since i saw them support biffy clyro in 2002. They were pretty damned good if my memory serves me correctly.

Yeah, I have the Aeroplane album (on extended extended loan from a Uni mate...) and rate it very highly. It's one of those albums that has a quality to it you can't quite describe. It's a bit like it reminds you of a certain point in your life, but blatently, it didn't because I'd never heard it before...yeah? No? Alright then.
