  1. When playing at the Moorings, Hog will want to use your Powerball. I'm not as pleased with the tone I get from the DSL (it's good, but I have my preference) as I am with my own Powerball so I'd opt to bring that.

Thats fine  2 Powerballs would be good, Flash Ment if you just swap our amp for the same thing, if you need another of the same thats different :gringo:

  2. thanks man really appriciate that. im never normally able to tell if im singing well at practice because i have to sing thru a crappy bass amp cause i cant afford to buy a good one. thats why i was kinda surprised at how good we sounded on stage cause we normaly sound crap at practice

I hope we see you again on sunday, Cant beat a stage practice

  3. the sansamp drivers give immense power and drive. no noise, no shite effects, just total power

Sansamp's would be In my collection. I like the sound of them (not fizzy) the cab simulator isnt bad either. But you still cant beat real valves.

  4. oh, and p.s.

i love the fact that the drum kit is fully set-up with everything from double bass pedals to cymbals and even sticks!

dont know if anyone has taken the time but i feel the need to give thanks.

    so there it is

We do try and provide all the bits needed, Nothing worse than having a gig but the drummer has no sticks, or no spare guitar strings, This is all added cost (for us) but it is worth while if the gigs go smoothly,

We are looking into an acoustic guitar pickup and preamp at the moment, so any of you who have an acoustic without a pickup we can plug you in, and the preamp will be good for any acoustic instrument with a pickup, Also it will be something we know works and it will be setup ready to use, eliminating situations where they dont work or the battery is dead.

  5. We really enjoyed that last night. Amazing what a difference a couple of years makes. Barely recognised you both visually and sonically. You were very tight, with a big sound. Particularily liked how the bass and drums worked together, powerful stuff. And the vocal is reminiscent of a young Ozzy.

    Seriously impressed! :)

I also have to agree, Such a big improvement . We hope to get you in for a full gig soon,

  6. Oh ace, how exciting indeedy.

I will stroke them just as if they have real fur with my nice clean hands.

I bet the volume will be louder than loud but in the best possible way.

And with the smoke machine to go with it all, what could be better. Ace! Some of my new CDs were jumping with new songs i had burnt, but this I bet will cure the bug wherever/whatever it was.

    yay*

For the DJ's who use MP3's you can now just burn them onto a disc in MP3 format, then the deck lets you access them through its menu, so is it around 1000 tracks on one disc?

still, It is much better to use the real CD's they sound much better :music:

  7. Generally placing the Mic centre cone up to the cloth will give you the most neutral sound, moving the mic to the edge it starts to lose weight from the sound. But as in all sound engineering there are no rules. So if the sound is working for you that’s all that counts. Play about see what you get, just remember if you have more than one mic Phase will become more important.

  8. I have a feeling this will be along the lines of the Frederick nordstrom technique of putting one 57 dead centre, facing the cone - and then another 57, half an inch to the side but at 45 degrees to the other 57. Apologies for the appallingly crude drawing... this is what I mean if looking directly above the cab:

    o

    I \

the 'o' is the very centre of the speaker cone. The 'I' are one 57, and the '\' are another 57 (but the angle should be 45 degrees rather than about 30 as in the diagram)

Then mix the two signals in accordance to what you like. The one facing the cone directly should be brighter and the angled one should be smoother.

Very close, but there is a little more to make sure of first,

The 45 will be at the cloth the centre needs to be moved until it phases out the 45,

so 45 in phase centre out of phase,

move the centre out away from the cloth until you have a good cancellation (wont be total) switch it back into phase and see what you get,

then adjust to taste and leave to cool,

Let me know how you get on,

Keilan: Back of the class, Pods really are not good so thin and fizzy, if you have valve use it (they do have a place but not often IMOP)

  9. Wanting to get the best tone possible for metal. Using a Shure SM57 and an ENGL powerball. Where is the best place to put the Mike?

    Thanks

    Hog:up:

What cab will you be using?

Put the mic dead centre of the cone up to the cloth (or where it would be) then adjust the amp to get the sound by listening through the mic.

  10. im not really disputing any facts, was merely saying that people have their own preferences regardless of what is "better" or not. ampeg cabs are the best and i certainly wouldnt be stupid enough to dispute that

i.e. i would rather play through my new amp ( http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Amps/Bass_400_/bass_400_.html ) than the ampeg in house. not really a slur vs the ampeg, which is a good amp.

And that would also be fine, Heads are easy to change cabs not so easy (on our stage)

I would like to hear it sometime.

  11. woop de...

some bands just prefer to use (and are more familiar with) their own gear/own cabs. it is hardly anything against flash/mark or the bar.

if i played through a custom built matamp, why would i want to go through a marshall or an engl? if i want to put my guitar through a custom built bass cab??

some bands just have their own preferences.

Bring you heads that isnt a problem (only when it is a 50 P O C) or when they just plug a rack of pedals in front of it where the head is doing nothing to the sound, but thats their choice.

As for the Bass Cab, There is None better than an Ampeg, There are enough Pro users to back this up, and Fact any bigger than a 10" driver will sound poor through a mic with bass.

  12. Anyone wanting to try the Powerball, Get down to the Moorings on a sunday arount 8pm for the open mic night, you will be free to have a play with one. as for me I have tried many different amps and the Powerball has to be up with the top few, great amp..
