Probably a bit late here, but anyone know of an approximate finish time. Need to ensure I'll make the bus ok.
-
How is that? I normally shy away from Pulp/Jarvis stuff but this one intrigues me, namely due to Steve Albini's contribution....
Fu Manchu ~ Go For It...Live
Flower Travellin' Band ~ Anywhere
Various ~ Virus 100, ace Alternative Tentacles compilation of folk covering Dead Kennedys tunes, replacing my much worn cassette copy.
It's ok at best. Lyrically pretty good in places, but too many of the songs sounds half-finished, in a compositional sense as opposed to a rough-hewn-Albini-production sense.

The rock and roll antics of Aberdeen-music continue...
Rockery and roll?
Bit tenous.

ooh marigolds keep aphids away apparently!
Plus they smell like beer...to me at least.

I was at the Leeds Festival in 2001 and the Manics were headlining the last day. At the time I hated them, James was fat and they were releasing crap like Tsunami and You Stole The Sun From My Heart. I was miffed they were headlining the whole festival so I started yelling "Burn the Manics!". A girl walking past turned to me looking shocked and started crying.
(The irony is I quite like them now)
2001 was when Know Your Enemy came out so you're wrong. They were releasing Found That Soul, So Why So Sad, Ocean Spray and Let Robeson Sing. Still mostly crap though!

Did i maybe see Hog in Bj Completions a few weeks ago taking photo's?
I believe I may have sold Hog some gardening goods at the weekend.

Mogwai would no doubt love clashing with Blur, seen as they are "shite" n' all.

I'm no expert, but I've been fishing with my dad since I was a wee nipper. I do a bit of fly fishing with him when the rare opportunity arises, and also sometimes some sea fishing, be it off a beach or pier. I prefer fly fishing because you're always casting and pulling line in and, I don't know why, but it's somehow more exciting reeling in a trout in fresh water to me.
My most recent experiences of sea fishing have all been miserable freezing cold nights down at the beach at Inverbervie. Having said that the past two years I've been to Skye and took a small rod with a "spinner" lure and just did some spinning of some piers. It's a lot of fun if you get the right time of evening and hit a schoal of mackerel. If you've not been fishing before Dave that's what I recommend you do when you're on the west coast. Unfortunately sunny days aren't the best for fishing. The fish are bolder when it's overcast because they feel like they have a safe roof over their head or something.
On another note, perhaps this thread could have had a less confusing name. I expected it to be about John Fashanu.

I don't like krautrock, because I don't like the word phonetically.

I wonder, is it ok for working class people to rip off krautrock?

A Mighty Wind.
Aye, wha' happened?!?!
-
Because they were exciting?
Oh, for fucks sake. NEVERMIND!

I thought the Joy Formidable were pish. Howling Bells were ok. And why anyone would excited about "A fantastically tight set" is beyond me.

Rainham Sheds was amazing!!!

That amused me and made my shitey day at work better for 2 minutes! Good work, lad.
I've "dunne" the survey, too.
Cheers, I knew who it was but still didn't get it, boy do I ever feel stupid.

I think the concept of "selling out" has changed drmatically in the last few years. You could argue that being on a major label is a sell out. MySpace & the like have created a whole new market & way of marketing music.
Anyway, interesting article in the Guardian about "synchronisation" - ie, getting your music on TV shows, films, games, etc.
it's a bit simplistic to berate Jack White or whoever for having music in adverts, imho.
True, especially when the song was featured in said advert without his permission and knowledge and which he later spoke out against.

I was thinking more about the formula they sell in third world countries, that stuff is delicious.
I wish they sold it here, i might write a song about it and see if they would start selling it in the UK.
That shit is suweeeeeeeet!
You talking about the milk formula they give to babies? My grandma wouldn't allow me to eat Kit-Kats because of a church bulletin led boycott of Nestle products, because they were discouraging mothers from breast feeding or something.
-
It reminded me of the Waterboys ever so slightly, but with a girl.
-
Fucking seelout.
Seriously though.
What companies would you guys considering selling out to?
I reckon right now i would sellout to the following companies.
Nestle
Gap
Disney
Nike
Coca Cola
Haliburton
and maybe Moonpig dot com
I'd be delighted if it meant changing that annoying music. I'd also go for Nestle but KitKats specifically.

Yeh, they kind of sound like Black Tambourine with a young Bob Wratten singing. Young Adult Friction is very Field Mice, I'm a sucker for a library-based love song. I'm glad to see one featuring in the new camera obscura single as well.
Dear god haha, you twee bastard!

Also, if the Sherlock Holmes stories are anything to go by, reading Conan Doyle's writing is an absolute delight.
Funnily enough I've not yet read any Sherlock Holmes, I think I previously thought it'd be stuffy and it felt like I was already too familiar with Sherlock Holmes. But after reading Brigadier Gerard and The Lost World, I changed my mind and I have the complete Sherlock Holmes waiting on the shelf.
Aberdeen-Music stalking.
