The Tunnels
Thursday 13th April
8 from 8pm
Jill is best known for being the lead singer in Scottish pop rockers,
Speedway.
Speedway were signed to Virgin Records with whom they scored 3 top 20 hits
including their beefed up cover of Christine Aguilera's Genie In A Bottle,
which was a top 5 hit in 2003.
Speedway released one album entitled Save Yourself before disbanding in
2004.
Since the band split Jill has had no shortage of press attention, not least
for her relationship with Fame Academy winner Alex Parks whom she parted
company with in December 2005.
Jill has been recording her debut solo album in LA and already there is a
queue of record labels desperate for her signature.
Before she embarks on a full blown solo career Jill has taken time to form a
band with the highly talented Gianna Cassidy.

Vocoustics Presents:
Jenna Reid - Winner of Best Up & Coming Artist at Scotland's Traditional Music Awards 2005
Accompanied by Kevin MacKenzie on acoustic guitar
Shetland Fiddler, Jenna Reid is one of the most prominent young fiddlers of her generation. Having recently released her debut solo album, 'With Silver & All ', to critical acclaim, Jenna was also awarded the 'Best Up Coming & Coming Artist of the Year' at the 2005 Scots Trad Music Awards. Showcasing her band at the recent Celtic Connections Festival, Jenna's career continues to go from strength to strength.
'With Silver and All' is a clinching example of Reid's extravagant gifts (The Herald)
"explosive fiddle playing " (The Herald)
Jenna is also a founder member of Shetland fiddle group Filska, and the traditional all-girl group Dchas, who have both had recently releases and performed all over the world.
"...Filska look cool. No one exemplifies this more than Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid, who marries an easy-on-the-eye appearance with instrumental mastery and real feeling ... quite simply electric." (Rob Adams, The Herald)
Now based in Glasgow, Jenna enjoys work as both a performer and teacher, having tutored alongside legendary fiddler, Liz Carroll. In addition to this, Jenna has also toured and played with Scottish acts; Deaf shepherd, Fiddlers Bid, John Raes Celtic Feet and Kevin MacKenzie's Vital Signs.
Support from Fiona Keenan and Sharon Hassan

Worth a look dave...
Dochas
Saturday 14th January
Tickets 12 (8 concessions & Regulars)
Doors Open: 8.30pm
Show Starts: 9.30pm
From every corner of the Highlands and Islands' date=' Dochas produce one of the freshest and most exciting sounds in the contemporary folk scene and have taken it by storm in the last two years. In 2004 they toured Ireland, Europe and Canada and rounded off the year by deservedly winning the Best Newcomers title at the Scottish Trad Awards. 2005 saw them release their second album An Durna Amhail to great acclaim, chalk up major festival appearances and set off on a hugely successful Tune Up tour with Michael McGoldrick, including a scorching Lemon Tree show during Rootin Aboot.
This was a stunning gig! Tasteful, uplifting and had the whole audience silenced - but they could maybe throw a spanner in their folky-works a little and play with their format.... Very talented group of lasses tho....
Jenna Reid - Dochas' Award Winning Shetland Fiddler, "Best Up & Coming Artist" at Scotland's Traditional Music Awards 2005 - will be back performing solo at The Tunnels on Wednesday 22nd February with support from Fiona Keenan and Sharon Hassan.
