  1. You'd much rather be breakdancing to an untitled Sigur Ros song??

Good point. But my proposition was for an ambient night somewhere. ie: A night in a normal club once a week where you go not to dance. I just wonder that there might be neough people who enjoy going out and drinking and socialising' date=' but once a week or so feel like going out without the dancing. So I'd rather be chilling on a sofa listening to an untitled Sigur Rs track with a cheep pint of Exodus Tennents or something.

you are officially a cunt if you don't like Honest Mistake

    I am officially a cunt.

  2. Bloc Party' date=' The Killers, Interpol, Kaiser Cheifs, Kasabian - That's not alternative..! It just gets tiresome hearing that all the time..[/quote']

Those sort of bands are what I hate about Exodus... and yet, ironically, they are basically what Exodus seems to be all about... and yet I still go.

Actually, you know what. I've stopped hearing the Killers and Kaiser chiefs so much last few times. It's actually that fucking Bon Jovi that's pissing me off about Exodus at the moment.... Bastard band that they are.

  3. what we need is one REALLY BIG bedroom' date=' with an oven baking cakes, and a big stereo turned really low playing the best in Arab Strap b-sides. In fact not b-sides, but demos that Aiden Moffat thought were shit but the studio inde geek picked off the floor and made them tapes. And no CD player, just a cassette deck, one of the old eighties ones that you used to plug into your spectrum. and loads of posters on the walls, and maybe a cabinet full of recorded from tv tapes of eightiens sit coms and cartoons.[/quote']

    THAT WOULD BE PERFECT!!!

...as long as it somehow involved Tom waits.

  4. Ok, I fixed the link so that it just takes you to the part of my site where the files are situated. So now, you can download them, even if you DO have to make one extra mouse-click.

Larsen B, may I ask how you've heard these pieces of music? I'm impressed, 'cause I hadn't really posted them anywhere until yesterday (although they were of course on my website already)

  5. Hello :)

Over Easter, Buckley (that's my mate Calum) and I made these two tracks (and one other) over a two-day period in his room, using a mixture of equipment, instruments and computer software. We called the whole project Like Little Water Babies. We'd really like some feedback on the tracks from an unbiased cross-section of the populace, as we were going to just stick 'em on garageband.com and let the Americans tear them to pieces, but garageband doesn't allow sampling, and we refuse to have our creative whotsitmujigs compromised and all that. So... Have a listen if you're in the mood, and feel free to say what you think.

    Cheers.

    They're right here!

<edit: Ok, link should work now. It'll just take you to the site where they are located>

  6. I think it would be a wonderful idea. I regularly moan that I'd rather be at an ambient or jazz club (I suppose I should really fuck off to an actual jazz club then).

However, I have to admit that the sort of folk who would come to a place like this would, although open-minded, probably still want totally different styles of music.

Still, even if it wouldn't be financially viable to run a whole club like this, couldn't it easily be possible to have an 'ambient' or 'chillout' night once a week or something? I'm sure if it was a weekly thing, at one of aberdeen's existing clubs or venues, there would be enough people who just weren't up for the Saturday night venture of dancing-to-music-that's-just-not-quite-right.

...I'm seeing Exodus on a Wednesday/Friday, filled with Sofas, and Tom Waits or Louis Armstrong floating out of the open windows and filling Belmont Street with hope :) *sigh*

  7. and your t-shirt loves you...

...actually all eric euan merchandise is reasonably priced and of impecible quality..... (on sale saturday 13th august - cafe drummonds or email info@ericeuan.com for prices)

t-shirts are a cracking way of raising awareness of your band.... if the band's name is emblazened accross the chests of strangers its free advertising if nothing else....

Well, I opened up the advertisiong floodgate there :)

Saw the wonderful Alan Cynic tonight at Cellar 35, sporting the lovely Eric Euan T-shirt... Most fetching indeed.

  8. Tom Waits' What's He Building: creepy as hell

You got in there before me :p

I was gonna say Tom Waits. He seems to have three or four different 'types' of track' date=' and one of those types can be very eerie. Songs like, '[u']Everything You Can Think of Is True' creep me out because of his OTT gruff barking voice... and of course the lyrics. 'Edward' is really good for lyrics too (dunno if that's what it's called, but it's on the Album "Alice"). It's a really slow, sad song about a guy who had his twin sister's face on the side of his head. As the lyrics state:

"At night she'd talk to him,

Of things heard only in Hell"

He eventually hangs himself to escape her, and Tom Waits finishes the song cynically contradicting everyone who thinks Edward escaped her, saying he believes she forced him to do it, then dragged him to Hell with her.

    ...Creepy doesn't even cover it.

  9. I love my Eric Euan T-shirt :D

but don't even ask me how reasonable it was, because it was bundled with two stickers and an EP, and was SOOOOO reasonably-priced that it actually wiped my memory of it's actual cost. wow!

I'd have to say though, don't get T-shirts made if noone likes you. If you have fans who actually dig your music, then definitely make T-shirts, cos they'll want to buy them.

...I notice that last bit of 'advice' is maybe a bit obvious.

  10. Ah weel. I admit, I'm no longer much of a ska-punker, more of a post-rocker now, I guess. So maybe it's just that my taste's changed. But for me, 'Losers, Kings and Things We Don't Understand', 'Hello Rockview' and 'Losing Streak' were my faves by far.

I htink that Borders and Boundaries, although it was quite good, marked a descent for them...

    IMHO etc, of course.

  11. OI![u/]

Brand New are ace. They're one of the few bands labelled as 'emo' today that I actually appreciate.

...from what I've heard, saves the day are cool too though.

Maybe I like Brand New because they can play 'emo' music without having to all have long, lank black hair over their eyes, and a drummer screaming into a head-mounted mic.

  12. Gotta get a ticket!!!! It's on the first day of freshers week in Edinbrugh, but I'm not gnona be a fresher, so I'll live.

I personally want them to play:

    -New York, New York

    -Drunk Again

    -Trendy

On the LTJ argument, LTJ have always been the better band, but have become a bit shit in recent times, whereas RBF are still good, and funny. However, as far as live performances are concerned, you just can't beat Capdown (especially if you're lucky enough to have seen them 5 times in kef, including the legendary 2-nighter) :p

Man, it's been a loooong time since I went to a good ska gig...

  13. Nae a cellist (yet) I'm afraid, but had a listen to your mp3s.

Not bad at all. Very nice in fact. I hear what AmbientMood was saying about Damien Rice, but it's more of a 'similair artist' thing than a rip-off.

Maybe it was after reading your little bio on your site that I noticed this comparison, but the third mp3, 'Cross the Border', was quite reminiscent of musicals in some places.

On the subject of your bio, I couldn't help posting htis little excerpt, found it hilarious:

"Around this time I decided that if I was going to be a proper composer, I would need to invent my own chords to use. Couldnt go using C major like Mozart. I was elated, having completed the task my chord even featuring a daring black key Later I came to realise it was, and for hundreds of years always had been, B flat Major ah well."

Anyway, just thought I'd put in my tuppence...
