  1. Formidible against who exactly? A bunch of celtic/rangers duds aren't going to scare anyone... As one who has seen alot of Jamie Smith' date=' he lacks one important skill as a winger: being able to cross the ball... but that's what he gets for training with Didier Agathe.

Celtic/rangers challenging for the title as usual, with hibs and hearts for third place methinks.[/quote']

Well we put the shitters up both the old firm on many occasions last season, so why shouldn't they fear us. With a better squad and consistency, I can't see why we can't pick up points from them on a regular basis. Also, I think Hibs will have a poor season and Aberdeen will beat Hearts to 3rd place. But I can't see the gap between the old firm and the rest being as large as 30 points.

  2. lovell' date=' mackie and maloney would be ace. although personally i think its a bitty lightweight. i mean lovell is quite strong but he isn't the biggest lad. piotr fitshisface is a big loon and seems to be able to find the net, but it doesn't look like we are getting him.

piotr, lovell, mackie and lovell would be ace. i hope we get them.

craig, stewart, adams and foster can get to fuck. a waste of space, i liked craig at the start of the season and still think he could have done a job for us but supposedly he's a jerk.

    gk - esson/preece

    dr - hart

    dl - byrne

    dc - diamond

    dc - anderson

    mr - smith

    ml - mcnaughton

    mc - nicholson

    mc - severin

    fc - lovell/mackie/maloney

    fc - piotr

if we get piotr and maloney im not sure who i would play just now. if we played three at the back i would take out hart and shove maloney behind piotr and lovell.

    next season = mad, hopefully.[/quote']

That would be a formidable line-up, but is Smith better than Clark? I know Clark is a bit annoying with his constant cutting inside and shooting rather than crossing but he does have skill and he's the only one who isn't scared to shoot from outside the box.

  3. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050713/ts_alt_afp/usattacksarrest_050713220813

Some people are fucked up regardless of race' date=' colour or creed. Problem is, that facists try and exploit that to create and propagate divisions between races to further their own ends.

remember Timothy McVeigh [url']http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh ?........ or the IRA?

oh no, thats right, it's only the damn ragheads who blow up us good standing white folks.

That's a fair point. London isn't a stranger to terrorists. I agree that the most powerful countries should stand side by side in the war on terrorists, but at the same time i believe that if Iraq didn't have these so called wepons of mass destruction we should have just let them be. There are many more countries around the world with corrupt governments and mass murder but we don't camp in their backyards. Bush just wants to make daddy proud by achieving what he failed to do. I say we get the fuck out of Iraq and look for Bin Laden.

  4. They say it's not nice to be racist or prejudge because of race. But isn't this whole war racist - on both sides in a way? They tell us to welcome these people in our country. Then the minority who decide that it would be a good idea to blow up themselves and innocent people who are minding there own business. I kinda find it hard not to prejudge because let's be honest you can't really tell who is a suicide bomber and who isn't. I actually got on a plane in February down at Luton where take off was delayed because they had someones luggage onboard who hadn't boarded the plane. Five minutes later, this asian guy boards the plane on his own and I nearly fucking shat myself.

  5. A 'producer' is somebody employed by your record company to ensure that a record is produced to their standards' date=' be these artistic or commercial. If you haven't got a record contract, what you need is an engineer (this is what you call sound guys when they live in studios). Producers tell people what to do, engineers do what you ask them. Bad engineers act like producers and tell you what to do, mainly because they don't have the skills to do as they're told.[/quote']

Couldn't have put it better myself :D

  6. I think he will one day play for chelsea either mourinho or abramovich is desperate for him to play for chelsea' date=' now htey have just lost out twice. I think Gerrard will leave Liverpool, I can't see them making hte step up in consistency to win the league and he wants to be at a team that is winnign things every year or at least has a good chance to.[/quote']

Everyone wants to be part of a winning team, but isn't it partly down to these players, of whom ar rated so highly to make their team win. It's like players who want to leave a club because they have been relegated. I can see why the club would want them off the wage bill, due to the huge drop in money in lower leagues but if a player can do nothing to stop relegation then why should they be the ones to get back in with the big fish while the team who paid their wages have to survive the financial strain of the lower leagues?

  7. Well' date=' I guess this was a fairly fruitless task. Thanks for the insight into selling ourselves and the booking practices of venues. How this helps us get a gig, I'm not quite seeing the immediate benefits, but I daresay everyone's wisdom will come in useful one day.

I think no-one reads these posts anyway. You need to look into this, I think. I did originally post it on the main forum, but it was effectively relegated down here. I don't particularly see the point, chaps, of having this if no-one is offering gigs. We realise the cons: out of town, never heard of them, asking for a small contribution to petrol - but dudes, what's the point of a collective if people are only patronising and negative? Did anyone actually listen to the music before Ben implored you to out of frustration? We are part of a collective based in a smaller town, and bands post on our forum ([url']http://www.wiganmusic.com) and can get gigs at short notice usually, and can get gigs without demos or EPs - and usually recieve a contribution to petrol.

I don't want to seem petulant and aggrieved - I'm not, I know everything will work out for us and you'll do your thing and we'll be unaffected - but I think the welcoming committee needs a reshuffle.

Welcome to the music scene of Aberdeen

  8. Was surprised to see Razorlight using the legendary piece of equipment that is "The Mellotron". Not my cup of tea, but I thought they were alright.

Was delighted to see Ian Brown belt out some of the Roses' classics. I thought he sang most of them not bad, but then his solo stuff he sounded bollocks. Still it was good to see Aberdeens' very own Fools Gold play with him. For a moment, I actually thought I was listenening to the Roses.

  9. No one has to set up a direct debit or anything like that- you can pay for downloads in the same way you can pay for anything on the internet- with a card the same way you would buy something off of Amazon or' date=' for added security and convenience, paypal (all you need for that is a bank account and an email address- not difficult at all). All that's involved is typing in a couple of numbers on a keyboard- other than that it's no different from using your card rather than cash to buy something in a shop.

My point was that I can't think of many adults whose life is such that they in a position to be able to use the internet who don't possess a bank card and 89p of disposable income. And for children and others who don't, isn't their situation no worse here than it is for ordering anything that can't be paid for person to person with cash?[/quote']

Well that's kinda funny cos i have a bank card, but can't get a paypal account as it is not a debit/credit card and I don't use a card to pay for things either. So I guess that counts me out

  10. My mum works in admission at the hospital' date=' and once admitted a guy called Randy Strongman..that's my personal favourite.[/quote']

Should your mum really be taking her work home? Aren't there policies on patient confidentiality?

What was he in for? Wankers cramp? :D

  11. Actually' date=' as far as I know all the bands get half the money from download sales on the site.

Fair enough it's not an ideal way to get on a festival bill, and in an ideal world these things would be decided by some wise arbiters of merit. It so happens that festivals are commercial enterprises, and the organisers will tend to want to put on acts that people perceive to have merit and thus part with cash in order to see/hear. This doesn't seem like a totally unreasonable way of deciding amongst a number of acts who haven't had proper national releases (do you often get bands playing at festivals who have released records but sold fuck all?). You don't have to pay to listen to it first. After all, this IS only 89p per track we're talking about- surely anyone who can afford to use the internet can afford that?[/quote']

Surely we could. But are they really going to set up a direct debit for the sake of 89p for those who pay for their internet the same way?

  12. I just recently aquired Pro Tools LE + MBox and I was wondering if anyone else on the forums is using Pro Tools. My purchases have only got as far as the software/hardware. I am going to be looking for programs for creating drum tracks (so any recomendations are welcome) and an external USB2.0 HD (again an recomendations welcome)

If anyone does have Pro Tools LE' date=' what is your set up? Do you have any "must have" pieces of equipment etc?[/quote']

If you just want to make loops from samples then I'd recommend Sony Acid Pro, which is what i use for my hobby
