  1. Just got back from the Gong family Unconvention in Amsterdam. One of the events that we had the pleasure of seeing during the festival was the Glissando Guitar Orchestra. This was a complete first as far as i know, and it consisted of 10 different guitarists, including Steve Hillage, Daevid Allen, steve higgins, fabio golfetti, brian abbott and a few more.

The sound produced was actually the most atmospheric thing I've ever heard in my life. Check this out. Glissando Guitar is so damn powerful, so i hope a few folk will appreciate this, whether they be Gong fans or not.

  2. Well im just back from Amsterdam after seeing Gong (Angels Egg line up), Steve Hillage Band, System 7, Eat Static, Glissando Guitar Ensemble and loads more.

It was immense i tell you. Steve HIllage can definately still play guitar and Daevid Allen, even at 68 is still a top performer without a doubt.

Theres a cpl of clips up on youtube.com already and more to come soon i imagine.

I missed Acid Mother Gong (AMT w/Daevid Allen), but the glissando guitar ensemble was really special too. 10 guitarists, including Allen, Hillage, AMT guitarist, Here & Now guitarist (i forget the names) all playing gliss guitar. WOW! what a sound was produced. Far more spacey and atmospheric than any noise a synth could produce.

  3. erm. . . thanks.

ALthough that moorings performance was our first time playing before an audience and we all thought it went DREADFULLY. WE're a lot better now though!

    hehehehe

Cheers for the feedback folks. Following the Wishbone Ash gig we will be re-recording our material from scratch with more added bits and featuring Nik Turner (of Hawkwind) on sax and flute. So it should be good. I'll be sure to keep y' all posted

  4. Obviously there's a point which when reached, means that a thread should be closed. . . But I've seen some posts being closed in the wasteland where I almost feel the moderators are getting a kick out of saying "Thread Closed". I can't help but feel that there is an element of 'power tripping', on the moderators behalf on occassion. Think about it. . . Some of the reactions to trolling on the website ARE taken too seriously. I get a great kick out of reading troll's pointless and meaningless arguments. OBVIOUSLY there is a line where a thread should be closed though.

And if you were to crack down on all the 'stupid stuff', you had might as well do away with the wasteland altogether. Lets not be seious all the time o_O

Fair enough about my point about the site being a waste of time, as although i may not fully know it, this site probably is really useful to me on occassion and life would be made more frustrating without its existence. You must forgive my initial harshness. I can be a moody bastard sometimes. The real thing which is getting on my tits here is my 9 till 5 job.

  5. Just read this.

I agree with the initial point made. The moderators can be so pathetic. "This thread is now closed as its a waste of bandwidth"

Bullshit. 90% of this website is a complete and utter waste of bandwidth. Thats what its about! And then people come on and say oh this site is supposed to be about music blah blah blah. These people obviously enjoy reading the posts full of shite otherwise they would just ignore it and not bother saying a thing!

Then they go do what they've done to the wasteland. What a complete waste of time and effort. Who actually cares? It's just an internet forum for god sake. As long as the main goal of the website (music, apparantly) is being met, who gives a shit what goes on in such forums as the wasteland.

People take it far too seriously (maybe I'm guilty of that in writing this) and the moderators are especially guilty of this.

Well i'm just enjoying a wee rant after a shit day at work and i think i'll stop now as i probably have better things to do (things which probably wont get done).

  7. Why is it that every fucking band from this city seems to have the word "rock" firmly placed somewhere in their description of themselves' date=' or unmentioned but disguised in the form of some retarded invented subgenre? Even those that call themselves different or alternative, when they are nothing of the sort, not even close.[/quote']

blah blah blah blah blah blah o_O

  8. y' know, i've never thought about that before. Just noticed as well, i don't use my thumb for that. . .

Man, its too late to be reading this shite o_O

I'm already listening to Vangelis . . . How much more bored need i be?

  9. Hi everyone' date='

I'm going on my holidays in a few days and will be visiting my friend Nick in Hell. Anyone know anything good about the place? I think it might be too hot at this time of year, heheh![/quote']

Thats no way to talk about Butlins! o_O

Seriously though, a few days? That's the first i've heard of a return ticket from hell.

hell is best appreciated when experienced for all of eternity.
