  1. didnt see the x-certs, saw Copy Haho though, they were well on form. Did manage to somehow end up watching a band fronted by Domonik Diamond, which were absolutelly terrible.

The Orb and Easy Star All Stars were totall highlights though. Its gonna be hard going back to work on Tuesday.

  2. I agree that a big fancy looking building that just doesn't function as planned, CCA in Glasgow as an example, would be a terrible mistake and could put the whole slow progress in the arts in Aberdeen under threat. The reason that this may just work is that our beloved Council have had little to do with it and this, I hope, will stay this same...

Look at the DCA, how much it has improved Dundee's profile in the Arts in the last few years, and Aberdeen is long overdue a proper Contemporary Art Centre, I know that over the years a number of collectives have tried to make something happen up here, i've been involved with a few of them, and it is just so hard to get anything happening.

Hopefully this will be the start of a proper Art infrastructire for Aberdeen, my only problem is that I think that there should be Peacocks AND the Art Centre, not just a relocation and expansion. But I get the feeling we're on our way. Too long has the artist in Aberdeen been ignored and forced to take themselves elsewhere.

  3. My other problem was was with the Master's death - he gave up control to the Doctor because he wouldn't ever want to die, but refused to regenerate because he would be trapped as the Doctor's prisoner? He's a bloody time-lord, he would have the patience to realise that he could have the time to work out an escape.

    .

But the bit at the end with the hand and the ring and the laughter? I don't think we've seen the last of the Master.

And the hand that picked up the ring? The Rani apparently.

Also Jack's Face of Boe comment... now I didnt expect that.

  4. Cheers to everyone who came down, and cheers to everyone whos ever been to or ever played at Underflows in the past. We've had a great time over the last couple of years, seen loads of great gigs and made the gigs that we wanted to happen happen.

Anyway, should be some videos of last night available soon if anyones interested.

ALso, my poster making skills are now available as I no longer have an outlet, anyone interested PM me.

Anyhoo, So long and thanks for all the Fish...

  5. Hello Y'all,

Not sure if anyone picked up any of the first three issues but the beginning of may sees the relaunch of CAKE magazine.

CAKE is a split personality of a magazine, half comic anthology, half Gallery space with a bi-monthly schedule starting with issue Four. The Comic side features five strips, two continuing serials from the first two magazines and three brand new strips by some of Scotlands most exciting new comics creators.

The Gallery half will be a ever rotating exhibition. Each issue will be curated by a different artist and features new work by students, graduates and professional artists who are based, originated or somehow related to Scotland. Issue Four sets a president by highlighting the diverse talent from up and coming and professional artists.

The Magazine will be out around the beginning of March with possibly some kind of relaunch event. Cake has an open submissions policy meaning anyone may submit some form of artwork or comic for consideration by the differing curators or editors.

A4 Magazine with two colour covers 22 pages of comics 22 pages of artwork and two pages of arts/events listings.

If anyone is interested in advertising their event in the listings or wants to submit work please do so to cakecomic@hotmail.co.uk (Events listings would preferably be exhibitions, art based rather than gigs, we're not trying to compete with the GCG)

    HOUSEHOLD

Household, from the centre of scotland, is a dischordant pop band that makes new-wave discodancers wanna bust out crying. There's two beautifully hand crafted home recorded 3-track limited CD releases, which are pretty much sold out now.

    THE JINX

Electro-experimental muzo peddlers. Still don't have a myspace or website.

    SARAH J TINGLE

First and foremost I'm an artist (check out sarahjtingle.com ) and I'm also a musician and songwriter. I produce my own stuff and although I crave a band from time to time I get on quite well in the studio myself and play around with all my guitars, keyboards and crud instruments I pick up from ebay and local charity shops (go keytars!) Even typewriters have featured in my live performances...! I like so many types of music it's difficult to define what I like and do, most. I hope to have an album out this summer-much awaited and procrastinated about!
