Ths Isis remix comp is also fabby.
-
Bet it's shite.
-
For Isis, Oceanic and Panopticon are both comletely fantastic - the new one is a big let-down IMHO.
Red Sparrowes are more mellow, but still very good. I second the "...Soundless Dawn" recommendation.

What he said. They'll set up any system you like and let you test-run it too....
-
I reckon they bank on Radiohead having a reasonable fanbase that will automatically shell out for the DiscBox, which despite being 40 gets you a decent amount of physical stuff, plus bonus choons. Plus if it's only through the website, is there a label taking a cut? They could rake it in!
The penny-pinchers like myself MAY like it enough to buy some other stuff?
Jonah Matranga used to do sliding-scale prices allowing people to choose their own price too (within limits)....
-
Awesome - loved The Crocketts and the first Crimea album was quite good too. Freebee!
Davey Crockett/Crimea is proper mental. In a good way.
-
charlatans are releasing theirs online for free too.
Surely thats because no one will PAY for a Charlatans CD anymore?
I'm having the new Radiohead one for free - I would never buy it anyway, so they're not losing out....

Downloaded this offa torrents cos I'd heard the name about - seriously great death metal with a (small) breakbeat influence. Well paced, good songs, GREAT riffs - good stuff!
Check it metal foo':

I stole it offa torrents (not a fan) - its OK, but I span it twice and deleted it.

The End - Elementary (didn't remember buying it, but fell outta my Godflesh hoodie that arrived from Relapse today.....)

Are bands like Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus even underground?
Actually, that's quite interesting - is anything "underground" anymore, seeing as most unsigned bands have a website and access is just a click away?
-
On March the Saints, Pillamyd and NOD are standouts at the moment.
Agreed on those three being the corkers. The rest still sinking in, but loving it!

Its Hog In Disguise!

Gargh!!!

When does it start on UK TV, or should I just start downloading?

I dont really care if people know what emo is or not, but on a related subject it pisses me off no end that death metal is so entirely misunderstood and people always seem to think that slipknot etc ARE death metal when thats so far from the truth its not even funny.
Death metal is basically a different format of music which has countless variations/subgenres and i wish people who liked metal could get their poor little ears passed the screaming /growling to hear the fucking immense music being made by some of the most underappreciated bands worldwide. Its basically impossible to discover good death bands without resorting to the internet/word of mouth cuz the music scene in britain barely even recognises it as a viable musical genre. Does nobody else think its time for a revolution? Dying Fetus on TOTP n e 1? Cannibal Corpse at T in the Park? Severe Torture at the AECC? ?(
also what someone said earlier about how they like the underground emo bands who just keep goin regardless of whether their a 'commercial' success, death metal bands pretty much encapsulate the 'making music for musics sake ' philosophy seeing as theres only an underground following of the music no matter where you go and theres never gonna be big money in it, which in turn means that people who like it dont just LIKE it cuz its cool and their friends like it,they LOVE it because it represents something pure in a corrupt industry of mass commercialized bullshit.
So many absurd points, I don't know where to start....

"Pillamyd" is a stormer!
-
I have a boner. More in line with I than II, seriously great stuff and Phil sounds awesome!
(Cues Hog telling me its "Corpo-metal")
-
great. but surely you are not disagreeing with what I am saying. I understand your point, yes they do mention the odd good thing here and there (moreso many years ago), but in the grand scheme of things those magazines are controlled by advertising.
Absolutely. But some of the journos DO know their stuff, and theres usually a few nuggets of truth in there. Rocksound is probably the music mag I would trust most (although thats not saying much) and the interweb is run by muso-fascist cunts who can't get a job in the mainstream media, cos they're muso-fascist cunts.
Do you read any mainstream press, or get all your stuff word-of-mouth? (Genuine question!)
-
Hog - Stop lumping Machinehead in with Trivium etc you bastard!
Maxi - Kerrang got me into Spy Vs Spy. And Rocksound is quite good for less well known acts.
B4MV are rubbish.
I didn't read page 2 of this thread.
