I can only remember the locrian mode, which starts on the 7th scale degree, and has a diminished 5th degree.

    Major-like modes:

    Ionian (begins on 1st degree)

    Mixolydian (begins on 5th degree)

Lydian (begins on 4th scale degree)

    Minor-like modes:

Dorian (begins on 2nd scale degree)

Phrygian (begins on 3rd scale degree)

Aeolian (begins on 6th scale degree)

Hello Jamesy's girlfriend... he asked me to help you out on this one, but I'm not 100% sure exactly what the question is... hope this helps:

Ok, in the key of C(major) you have:

C Ionian - the major scale

D Dorian - minor scale but with a raised 6th

E Phrygian - minor scale but with diminished 2nd

F Lydian - major scale but with a raised 4th

G Mixolydian - major scale but with raised 7th

A Aeolian - the minor scale

B Locrian - minor scale but with dimished 2nd and diminished 5th

Try the harmonic minor scale - the standard minor but with a raised 7th. Sounds ace.

Then try starting on the 5th degree cos it sounds even better, very spanish sounding. Its called the Phrgyian dominant scale, cos it is exactly the same as the phrygian mode but with a major 4th as opposed to a minor 4th).

Hope thats what you were wanting.

  2. Thats why soilwork kick so much ass....

Their songs are the 3-4 minute prog epics, that are simultaneously heavy, beautiful and technical as fuck. Genius!!!

Epics are great, but too much can be boring for the crowd, unless the odd stormer comes in and kicks your ass!!

    So...uh....both.

    2. If you don't do it, I might just accidentally write a bass part for you in 46.9/8

    No pressure, just love

46.9/8? I love it when time signatures start looking like an A-Level maths paper.....

  4. Well played last night boys... sorry, I had to leave after chasing ghosts. Not sure if you played anything else after the usual 5 minutes of chaos/feedback/widdly woo solos (ace!)/drum fills/Rass-stamping-on-a-very-nice-guitar-which-if-he-does-that-again-I-may-have-to-tell-him-to- stop-being-such-a-naughty-boy.

I figured that was pretty much the end of the set....

    Rawk!
