  1. Anyone heard of/like this band? They are Australian and playing the Edinburgh fringe soon.

I have to warn all of you that they are not heavy at all. Infact they don't even touch on the 'emotional' themes that are rife in alternative music these days; the general gist that runs through most of the album is having fun.

    Quote:

'The 'Empire have managed to combine Madness-esque Ska with jazz with hip-hop with break beats with reggae, and instead of sounding like a pretentious piece of mumbo-jumbo they actually sound incredible.

The only album they've released ("The Cat Empire) is a tribute to their amazing energy that they pump out at their live shows (although i've not been to one, this is what i've been informed by various fans...)'

I can say this: if you like jazz, ska, skate punk, anything that involves feeling really really good or anything summery, then listen to these guys - you'll be impressed.

  2. I wouldn't say they were a punk band' date=' though a lotta folks do associate them with punk. Drummer Rusty Egan had also been a member of Glen Matlock's outfit The Rich Kids.[/quote']

Ah well, everyone has their own opinions :D

    I enjoyed them anyway.

  3. the crazy dancing guy that comes out late at night and does a funny walk that looks like he's dancing up and down Union Street. he has a sort of afro going on. know who i mean?

Is that the guy who wears wild shirts and is usually running with household objects such as hoovers/lampshades/printers....?

If so, he is a legend.... he can regularly be seen raking in wheelie bins along George Street for his next gem.

  4. I thought it was another band that had a rammy with Story of the year?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After having started on story of the year, disturbed have decided to have a go at finch:

From the official Finch site: ""To anyone who either witnessed or heard about today's incident at the Rolling Rock Town Fair. While we were setting up, one of the members of Disturbed, Dan Donegan, was harassing us from the side of the stage. Before we were to play, Randy (our guitarist) walked over to Dan to explain that the comments he made a few years ago were a joke, and to give him a friendly handshake. Dan proceeded to assault Randy and Disturbed's singer, David Draiman, attacked Mike Herrara (our drum tech) which caused a fight to ensue. We want everyone to know that Finch did not start this fight. However, we do not take kindly to being assaulted or having our lives threatened. We would like this little conflict to be resolved as soon as possible, but we will not give in to bullying bands threatening us or our fans.""

  5. What the hell are you people talking about?

The crowd was a disgrace for Boom and Douglas.

As usual everyone watches their mates bands then fucks off.

I thought Both were fantastic, along with the supports.... just a pity no fucker bothers to watch the main bands.... I hate Aberdeen crowds.

The Boom Cd is excellent. I bought the MMW one too, not really my cup of tea, but I thought they were pretty good live.

  6. I`m very tempted to go to this. My Birthday is just before and i`m also very tempted to start drinking again.....

    Hmmm....

Half Pint of shandy and i`ll be on my back....

    If you are lucky laddie.

I'll get you a few pints.

    Comedy moments will ensue!

No fire though, or you are back on the wagon.

  7. New My Chemical Romance album is also pretty decent.

As is new Taking Back Sunday (although not a great progression from the first record, expected a bit more).

New Prodigy is growing on me slowly too now. Actually some killer tracks on it.
