Agriculture's becoming less and less profitable, the price supermarkets are willing to pay for food and milk is constantly falling and becoming more and more competitive - it's driving farmers out of business every single day. Plus we've barely got over the BSE problems, just because it hasn't been in the news for 8 years doesn't mean it hasn't caused us major problems.

THAT'S what I'm talking about, now how about you back up your own statements? Coming from a farming family I'd quite like to know.

Anyone who thinks this doesn't affect Scotland is a fool. Livestock restrictions have been lifted to a degree, but only for transporting animals to abatoirs etc, you still can't take animals to market as far as I know, and that's going to put alot of farmers out of pocket. That and the EU have banned UK exports until we're Foot & Mouth free again which could take months to be confirmed.

It's all in the "data" = it's all bull. No pun intended.

Poland's great Cloud, don't knock it 'till you've tried it! I'd love to go to Warsaw or one of the bigger cities next time I go. I've got family near Kołobrzeg so I've only really seen the area around there (close to the Baltic coast and east German border), even just seeing the difference between Germany and Poland the moment you cross the border I'd say is well worth the visit, it's fascinating. There is a lot of poverty in the countryside though, the villages out there are slowly getting the cash injection they need, but very slowly.

Kołobrzeg's got a few sights worth seeing, like the old lighthouse. Or if you're into cycling there's a cycle path that starts there and goes all the way along the rest of the Polish-Baltic coastline I think, daresay you could get a train at either end? Koszalin is a lovely city too, some beautiful architecture there. Anywhere along the Baltic coast is beautiful in my opinion really.

Language barrier is a pain yes, but most of the younger generation have a good grasp of English as it's taught very early on in the school system, so I reckon you could probably get by.

Just remember "Nie rozumiem, Angielsku?" (or there-abouts)... hah!

I think the deaths were neccessary, with such a final big battle you'd have to expect that a few main characters would end up dead, it's just a shame it had to be both Tonks and Lupin but obviously JK was making parallels to Harry through their kid ending up with no parents.

I need to read it again I think, there's always so much you just skim over when you're reading a book like that for the first time.

Have to say the whole buying the book at midnight, really not for me. I was quite happy to have it delivered from amazon at a reasonable hour the following morning. Still only set me back about 9, including delivery.

Rounded off the series astonishingly well, I was gearing myself up for disappointment because when a series is ending it often never ends the way you hope it will, but this wasn't the case here.

Found the whole exploration into Dumbledore's past really interesting, especially getting to see he had a dark side and wasn't always a benevolent goody goody. Plus the revelations about Snape near the end was something I wasn't expecting, and I thought an excellent twist.

If you think harry potter isn't a kids book you've got problems.

Dave hit the nail on the head, ok so when it started out with the Philosopher's Stone it was aimed for children, but unless you're blind/stupid/have never seen the news you'll have noticed that millions of people enjoy them, that says something. The books have brought many kids back to reading, which can certainly not be a bad thing.

Try reading them, it might bring a bit of joy into your otherwise miserable existence.

I'd hardly put it down as a book for "little kiddies". Have you read any of them? I'd imagine if you had you wouldn't be pigeon-holing the series like that.

Also got mine this morning but chose the extra time in bed over starting it at 8am, hence I only finished it about 10 minutes ago.

Frankly I don't think she could have done a better job of it, I felt it did the entire series justice. As for the last couple of books being a chore to read are you kidding me? They've been a million times better than the first two!

I thought the ending was just perfect, although working out which kids belonged to who was a bit confusing, especially since my eyes were crossing after 7 or so hours solid reading.

Joining the ranks of those having a clearout, thought I'd see if anyone wanted any of these before I take them down to Crime Converters.

Logie Baird's Bar @ The Bank Hotel on the Royal Mile is pretty good too, bit pricey but nice atmosphere. Opium's a must on a night out.

If I could get my first training post in Edinburgh when the time comes I'd be a very happy chappie.
