i've got the cheapo zoom and it's pretty ace.  the H2n is meant to be better still.  I also use the Edirol R-09HR at work and it's ace (though a bit more expensive than the H2n).

Oh that reminds me, stay away from the new Shore Porters building being built on the beach boulevard as everytime I walk past even at night I smell gas and I think there is a serious leak there, I noticed this a few weeks there. If you go there and still smell it and there are no workmen at the time then can someone please report it because someone could light a lighter and drop it down there and completely blow the whole street up Coronation Street style and could kill people in what could be the biggest Aberdonian disaster since that oil one from the 1980's.

it should be pretty big if you're wanting a good quality file.  most of mine are around 50-60mb. 

Got hold of Ableton last week, been dicking about trying to create something with it. Came up with this. Was aiming for grubby sounding music for a grubby 80's sci-fi/horror film. Opinions welcome...

first quick listen this morning and my initial impression is that it's pretty good for a first go at creating on ableton!  i'd roll back the kick as it's distorting and i found that distracting and there's some distortion later on in the track.  great vibe though and it totally sounds like grubby 80's sci-fi/horror.

nah, nothing to do with that.  though they do want to hear from people who are interested in putting on performances in one up.

they've said their reopening a much loved old venue.  the only downstairs venues i can think of were the original drakes, hotel metro basement and kef.  drakes is too small for what this place is proposing and kef is now a hotel.  possibly the metro basement?

No, it's not supported. And it wasn't on the old forums either (it was a third-party addon that added that feature).

The Soundcloud link embedding was improved recently but unfortunately it looks like it has reduced any originally posted Soundcloud links to just that - links. They can be manually edited and re-posted though. I've manually edited the link in your signature and that seems to have fixed it (you just copy and paste the Soundcloud link back in to fix).

Not any time soon unfortunately and people should be putting the venue in the title anyway as a matter of course. Or at the very least, in the body of the event.

well, the last forum put the location in for you in the title so maybe people got out of the habit.  is the map function not supported on the new forum?

how come the soundcloud links don't work in signatures anymore?  thought that was quite a nice feature.

Chris, check out Hendricks if you want to try out a decent gin. It's pretty commonplace in a lot of bars now, I like it with soda but works as well with tonic. Served with cucumber rather than lime and tastes delicious. Made in Scotland, too.
